I was wondering how honest and unbiased the Trinity Standard seems to you. As far as I am concerned it is only another means for the "Evans machine" to further his cause.

Blueknight, I was wondering the same thing for a while now.It seems to me that the Trinity Standard owes it to the people of Trinity County to at least report on all things.Seems that they are only reporting what is favorable to the city and county officials like you said.I really began to notice this when the city officials were trying to get rid of the constables out of the city. The paper did not even show up at the council meetings when this was going on.
If you write a letter to the editor and it says anything negative about Evans or Jones, it will not get printed.
Maybe they have an inside track on Entergy with their councilman friends.??

OMG PEOPLE !!!!!! just curious on a little something----why does every single discussion-no matter how it starts out always always always turns in to something about the city council members.
it just gets kinda old.just my VERY HONEST OPINION>

No, you don't have to be kin to someone to talk nice about them. However, some of the people you are 'talking nice' about are not truly nice. They shake your hand with their right hand, but keep the knife in their left ready for use at any given moment.

I also wonder, in an age of spell and grammar check, why can't they seem to write a decent article.
Amen!! My children enjoy pointing out all the spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors to me and to each other. They make a game of it.

Actually, Trinity is fortunate to have good press like the Standard, sure some things go unreported but not everything can be covered. The part that gets me is when someone can just go in there with a good sized pocket book and then keep honest citizens out of the loop. This is not to mention the Ultra-right wings who pay to much attention to fundamentist preachers.

There have been many articles that Ive wanted to send Jay Leno due to the incorrect usage of their vocabulary. But I restrained myself from doing so. I mean it seems like the Standard could misspell the word "Trinity"...LOL

I was thinking of taking a picture of the "girls serving topless drinks" at Friday's and sending it in to Jay Leno. He would love that one,

My dad saved me a paper a while back that was about a high speed chase on 19 where when the guy wrecked out his car, it said something about

"High Speed chase...Police recover 357 handgun and cocaine"

And I thought..."They (Police) recovered (?) the handgun and cocaine? Wouldnt it be better to say they seized the handgun and cocaine? To me it sounded like the bad guy stole the handgun and cocaine from the Police and when he wrecked, they "recovered" it."

Leno would have loved that! lol

Even worse than the bad grammar in The Standard is the mis-spelled banners hanging across main street for everyone traveling through our fine city. You would think someone would proof read things like that before being hoisted up over the street.

That is one of those stories with a jumbled timeline the reader must resequence in order to get a more clear partial story as to the events that led to the suspects eventual capture on Jan. 5th. I have heard 2 different versions of the "Ninth St. incident", but one of the actual officers "on the scene" would be best to tell us what the paper has omitted for whatever reasons. IF they can that is without fearing retributions or retaliations from whomever.
