I know this neighborhood really well and im 90% sure this was an issue that was drug related. There is always "thugs" walking up and down the road. Hopefully this is a sign for the rest of the teens to try and turn their life around.

In this case I agree, especially with the other person who live there apparently "had no clue" what happened. I'm pretty sure something grimey was going on at that residence.

You would be right in your assumption that grimy is going on at that residence. I konw of these people and drugs are all they know. He is one less worry in the drug world now.

If you stop the drugs you stop 90% of the crimes.
If everyone knows about all this drug action why does the police do nothing? Oh I forgot the court system will have them right back out doing it again within a week.
I guess it is better if they kill each other off.

i live almost across the street from this location. This neighborhood isn't that bad. It is no worse than any other neighborhood in Guilford County. I feel totally safe living here with my 3 small children. I won't disagree that there are some "fishy" characters that live around here. But all in all this is a good neighborhood. A lot of those "thugs" walking up and down the road are good wholesome teenagers who are trying to earn a few bucks honestly by raking leaves or mowing lawns. So unless you have actually stopped and talked to these people I don't see where you have any right to judge them. That is ridiculous.

How do these people know this house so well? Are they buying or selling drugs to these people. This is very sad for him to die. What's even worst is for someone to say this is one less person in the drug world.Did this guy hurt anyone of you? Why would you put him down like that? I think we all need to pray that god helps this family get through the pain.

If you are involved in the drug trade, and I'm not saying the kid was or wasn't, then you take on the chance that something unsavory will befall you. Any activity has its dangers. If someone in the "drug game" gets killed they brought it on themselves by being involved in that world. It's unfortunate that someone would put themselves in that position but it's just life when something bad happens when you are engaged in dangerous lifestyles.

You may live across the street from Chad and if you know him, you know what he is and does. Your neighborhood is infested with drug dealers and users. Just ask HPPD. The boy killed is both also. His mother has went nuts for several years trying to get him off drugs. This is what happens and so be it. There are many neighborhoods in Guilford County not infested with this activity.

Colton may not have been perfect, but he gave up his life to protect someone else's. All you people leaving these negative comments are going to feel really stupid when you find out the details. My heart goes out to his mom and sisters!

Well actually, all the pain that was caused the dead guy's family is now gone. They won't have to worry about what trouble he is getting into now.

I heard through the grapevine around Kivett Drive that a home invasion was taking place when Colton was killed and there were small children at the home when it happeded.

Kids play basketball on the street here, and neighborhood kids ride their bikes up and down the street greeting people- Larkin Street is a area near a good school. The house this tragedy happened at is a few houses down from mine. Larkin street was a great neighborhood a few years ago when my family moved in and with the exception of a few homes on the street-still is. I hope they find those responsible for this young man death, and if there is drug activity in the house- then hopefully stops. There are a few rent houses in the neighborhood, but mostly this is a area of retired folks and families that just want a safe place to live. I am ashamed that something like this has happened in our own backyards. My Condolences to the young mans family.

Then you must know why he had to step in front of the child then. Colton did so because of the activity of him and Chad. The word perfect does not even belong in your statement.

It doesn't bother me if they kill each other. It makes it a little more safe for the non-drug population. The PD does do a great job rounding up all they can of the dealers and users, but you are right about the court system. Beats all I have ever seen.

But in the end if it was a home invasion and he stepped in front of kids to protect them then maybe he had some good in him..but this neighborhood people dont do home invasions for possessions other than drugs..He was a known gang member and drug dealer..kudos for taking up for kids but he should have changed his life the last 10 times he was in jail..
