I've been talking to this Trini for the last month or so and I know I am head over heels for him. But, I know we wont ever be together and I went to search the internet because I was confused on some things. I came across this post and everything makes so much sense to me now. But, I cant fault him. He's so honest. I know he dates and sleeps with other women. But, he makes me feel like the only girl and he makes me feel like all the other chicks dont matter. Hey says he just likes to be "sexually expressive".

Its my choice to stay because I really do think he's one of the coolest dudes I met in a while. I wanna be friends but I dont think we can just be friends. He is extremly sarcastic and cocky. But, being from NY i'm used to that either way - it kinda turns me on.

We all make our own choices. We'll see where I am in a few months. Hopefully, i've moved on...

There has to be some truth to this, because I actually looked for information on dating Trinidadian men because of the issues Iím having, my friend an family think Iím crazy for staying and their fed up with me talking about it, I have been in a relationship (if you could call it that) with this amazingly attractive Trinidadian guy, of and on for 5 years, I am a black British woman born and grew up in London, When we met it felt to good to be true, kind of love at first sight. I loved this man from the bottom of my heart, and only wanted to please him, and still stupidly do. We had communication issues from the start, which I was naive to because my parents are Jamaican born, so grew up very cultural, and just believed that all Caribbeanís are the same, but there are still some major differences between. But generally I do think people are individual but most men have similarities, and probably more so then women, because of their very large egos.
But my Trini man seemed so different, openly sensitive, but man-ly and strong all at the same time, very passionate and he turned me on just looking at me.(oh my gosh)
I just feel a general similarity with most of these posts except my Trini man makes me feel like a queen like the only woman on earth, but he has cheated, got married to have stay, living with another woman at the moment, trust me you would think just leave stupid girl, but when were together it feels like heaven, the sweetest, and the love making is incredible. I think Iím just going to enjoy the good bits until something better comes along!

you cannot label one or few experiences to reflect on all the men of one culture.some things that are discuss in this trend are done by men all over the world in different cultures.it all matters on the individual you date and their character.if date a douche bag,you obviously going to be treated bad.what you need to do is choice a person (male or female) that have traits that are "very" important to you,not silly things that can never keep a relationship lasting for the long run.so ladies, stop choosing douche bags of one culture, then be bashing the rest as a whole, its totally unfair,to the ones that are actually good.

I do not believe that where a man comes from will make him any better of a man, but I do believe how he is grown will have some impact on the value he has for women. As i sais I dated a Trinidadian man for around 2 years although off and on for about 5. We hit it off straight away, but silly jealousy and childish behaviour spoilt it from both sides, even though I was completely faithful to him he still hurt me by lying to me and also married another woman while I believe we were still dating. For UK residency (so he Sais), and he lives with her. But that is because of his choice not because his Trinidadian, it sounds so childish, but I can completely sympathise with your stories because I was a fool for love and I have been hurt, but I know where it went wrong, my silly jealous behaviour didnít help, if I loved myself even more I wouldnít have allowed him to do it,(meaning goodbye).(Not to be rude, but next time it might have to be one ugly man, just so I can focus on the personality more) lol!(But at least he didnít let me go through the whole marriage thing coz that would have been real shame!)
But then again my ex werenít all that looking but he was from London ďblack BritishĒ as they say, but thatís another story, coz that was real bad too, so man will be man, Iím sure there are some good ones left, Itís just unfortunate that my situations havenít worked out, but Iím still young maybe was a bit too soon to get serious, I have learnt and grown though so Iím staring to feel ready for that real grown woman relationship.

The problem is the love for my Mr. Trinidad, was the best love I ever felt, better than the rest. His dishonesty to me was worse than the cheating itself, but I think that if he really loved me he would have more respect for me to at least tell me what his game was. Rather than pretend I was his number 1 (I donít regret meeting him though) We both know that it canít work, his not really what I want in a man anymore.
We still see each other occasionally I mean he now just comes and goes for lovemaking, but itís all good coz thatís all I want him for, if he were more of a man in my eyes things could have been different and Iím not that Ďsleep aroundí type of chick, so I donít see nothing wrong with enjoying the good bits while youíre young and free, when that time comes for me to settle down, me or my man wonít have to worry because I know Iím a good woman, so any-man I hit it off with better strong enough and confident enough to accept all the loving Iím going to give him.

"So ladies love yourself, and know that if your with a waste man then itís your choice, if you find it difficult because of the emotions of love, then I would say, take the good shut out the bad till your strong enough to walk away or you meet someone else, that is worth it"!

Im not gonna like Trinidad produces some of the sexiest men...umm yum, but I believe 75 percent of them know this and so they tend to act like assholes. I met a guy recently who is from Trinidad and he is wooo HOT! He is tall dark caramel complexion oh god do I need to go on? Anyway I kinda like him and I know he likes me...whats different about him is that unlike alot of Trini men I came in contact with, he is laid back, kinda shy, and calm. We get along so great and we talk ALOT. His family is Indian descent which kind of scares me because from what I learned in the past, they are most judgemental of americans. Im taking things slow with him, not trying to get too wrapped up too soon even though I can feel it getting to that point. I think with most men you have to do your homework. I know if a man isnt honest in the beginning its hard but always listen to those little instincts us women are born with. I hope things work out with me and my little Trini...good luck ladies.

Hang in there girl, I don't know why Trini men act the way they act. When they're trying to get you, they will chase you down, call you everyday, take you out, buy you things-But once they got you..Watch out-Thats when you start seeing a different side. The only advice I can give you is stay the same. Don't let him change you....Update:
My man and I are off again!!!!I know..This is re-donk-q-lous!! Now, I'm missing him again..He makes me crazy..In this last couple of weeks, he started telling me about his pass and ALL the woman..Lord have mercy!!!This man is off the hook! He's from Brooklyn also..What's so sad,,he's the best thing I've met this year..I meet men every week..(I'm fortunate)but the caliber of men I've been meeting lately is sad...When I'm with my Trini-man-I love him and hate him at the same time. He try's to intimidate me because with direct eye contact, and the boldness of his voice. He gives himself so passionately-But once our feet hit the floor-I don't like the way he make me feel inside in reference to myself. I feel like he's using me. He wants the physical side, but don't want to go out anywhere. He doesn't tell me how he feels about me. So I called it off again..Let see if he comes back or if I fold again!!!

Well...I am African American but my situation is different because I am already with a West Indian (Vincentian) and about to get involved with a Trini. But they seems worlds apart. My baby daddy is very controlling, suspicious, quick tempered, mean spirited, childish. He wants to be pampered because he is used to women being subservient like in his country. The Trini I am talking to is funny and intelligent. He is older so I think that might have something to do with it (I am 37 and he is 47). I enjoy talking to him and cant wait to meet him in person. I guess I will just have to continue to look at the thread and keep it posted because it seems like it might be interesting. I might have to do like Usher and sign them papers because I am really tired of being with a mean person (pass judgment or not...I am married to my Vincentian and it just isnt working out). To be honest though, he might not be "the one" but I prefer West Indians because I like the culture. And they seem to be attracted to me because before I got married, I couldn't pay a man to look at me. Now 2 kids later and older, they are gravitating to me like bees on honey! The only thing I am afraid of is falling for him because he is very sensual and if he is as good of a lover as the game he is talking....im in trouble.

To Vanity-His name is not Ron. We live in the Detroit area. Trini update:So I stop seeing my guy March,09-May, 2010-I spent my birthday with him after he begged me all night to come over and spend the night with him. The sex was good..Not like I expected it to be..But we grown apart.. I wanted a commitment and he wasn't ready to commit, because of his current financial situation-which I totally understand. However, we talk once a week. I know he has other relationships, I do too.I've tried to meet with him, but he's been going back and forth to New York. Maybe he found yet another woman there. But we're at least civil to each other. We talk once a week and now a friendship is developing. I have my steady guy I've been seeing on and off for a couple of years. He's not good sexually, but financially, he's sound. Plus, I can depend on him. In which really, if I need something the Trini came running...He likes for me to ask him for advice. He's 15 years older than me, so he likes telling what to do. Which he's has never been wrong..My guy's name starts with a G. So I'm still looking for a guy, that has the complete package brains, money, great sex, honesty...

i guess i don't understand what all the negative conversation is about.. i am a educated woman who is fully independent.. how ever i love a good man... i know a trini man and he is a considerate, kind generous person a wonderful father and i can't understand why any woman would complain about him.. we have an intimate relationship that is very loving.. recently he asked me to do something and he was surprised that i did it he thanked me for just doing as he asked... news flash ladies when u trust that a man cares for you and has your best interest at heart you don;t mind letting him be in chrage.. oh yes

Still feeling my Trini friend...though we still haven't met. I guess its good in a way because we are learning about each other, good and bad. And giving time to get our affairs in order. I must say this though, that I don't think that it matters what race or nationality the man or woman. We are all imperfect and can hurt people along the way. I wouldn't exclude someone out just because of where they came from.
