Setback for immigration bill

LINCOLN -- The Legislature's Judiciary Committee voted 5-1 on Thursday to kill Gov. Dave Heineman's bill targeting illegal immigration, but it may not be the last word on the measure.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha moved to kill Legislative Bill 963, saying outbursts and comments from some supporters during Wednesday's public hearing demonstrated that the measure encourages racism.

Heineman and Attorney General Jon Bruning plan to hold a press conference this morning to discuss the measure, said Jen Rae Hein, a spokeswoman for the governor.

After speaking with Heineman aides later Thursday, Sen. Brad Ashford of Omaha said five committee members agreed to take a second look at the bill.

It was not clear when that would occur. Ashford, the committee chairman, was one of the five who agreed to reconsider.

The panel also voted 5-1 to kill Legislative Resolution 224, a proposal from Sen. Tony Fulton of Lincoln that Nebraska law enforcement agencies cooperate with federal authorities in enforcing immigration law.

The military is investigating a "shocking and deplorable" YouTube video that seems to show a Marine throwing a puppy off a rocky cliff.

YouTube.com removed the video for violating the Web site's terms of use.

The black-and-white puppy makes a yelping sound as it flies through the air.

"That's mean, that was mean," one companion says off-camera, addressing the alleged puppy thrower by his last name. The fate of the animal is not known.

The Marine is identified on the video and in other Internet postings as a lance corporal stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.

It's not clear where the video was shot, although the man who appears to throw the puppy and another Marine are in full combat gear with helmets.

YouTube.com had taken down the video by 12:30 p.m. ET Tuesday "due to terms of use violation," according to a banner on the Web site.

"This is a shocking and deplorable video that is contrary to the high standards that we set for every Marine," Marine Corps spokesman Maj. Chris Perrine said at a news conference Monday night.

This would be comparable to the worthless illegal alien I read about who was caught RAPING HIS PUPPY. Unfortunately, we're stuck with the worthless American. We're NOT stuck with the illegal aliens.

If it weren't for rape, how would you have ever known the joys of intercourse with a man who isn't drunk? Perhaps you should direct that rape comment to Mr. Lou Barletta. Not only the first two Italians Remus and Romulus were raised by a wolf (both Dogs and wolf belong to the C. Lupus species) but when the Italians were faced with a disproportionate ratio of women to men in the early kingdom they did what any Italian would do: they threw a festival for their Sabine neighbors, and then stole and raped their women. It’s quite logical; in fact I don't understand why the illegal aliens at Plymouth didn't do the same to the local Indians–it certainly would have saved on shipping costs .

However ugly women are not the only people who benefit from rape–prisoners enjoy as many perks too. after all, what could be possibly be more boring than spending years of your life confined to some tiny cell 23 hours a day and never getting some hot action. With rape, prisoners never have to worry about that. Instead, they merely need worry about treating their rapist with enough love and respect to earn a quick reach-around.

Sometimes, when I drive around the jersey shore in the middle of the night, with no other cars around, I start imagining: What if there were no civilization out there? No cities, no factories, no people? And then I think: No people or factories? Then who made this car? And this highway? And I get so confused I have to stick my head out the window into the driving rain - unless there's lightning, because I could get struck on the head by a bolt.
