I recently took a tour of the Trenton Nursing Home because my parents health are failing and they have decided to go to one. I was appauled. As soon as I walked in it brought me back 30 years! It honestly looked as it hadnt been updated for quite some time. I was given the tour, there are still rooms with 3 beds in them by the way, no whirlpool or bathtub of any kind available, if the residents want to sit in the sitting area they have to cross two very cumbersome heavy double doors in their w/c's mind you...there was nothing in the didning room, no tv no clock no pictures, it smelled of urine. I asked about outings for the Residents and they dont do that either, they dont have the money for a van. They had what seemed to be late stage alzheimer residents in with cogn itive intact people nothing dividing the populations or the activities for them. When I asked to see the Administrator to discuss some things I was told I would have to make an appointment she was busy. The building literally looks like a warehouse from the outside. I am just wondering why Trenton has not noticed this as a community and demanded better for their elderly population. My parents thank God have a choice to come with me or a home they like, needless to say it wont be Trenton Place. I would ask for some action to be taken to improve this home, where Trenton could be proud of their home for the elderly, not have to go to Dyer or Milan etc to place their loved ones...It a shame and the Mayor or whoever needs to look into this!

Hi, I use to work there a couple years back.. I don't know what it is like there but I know then, it wasn't bad at all. They did activities with the them.. Though I don't recall anyone ever go on outings unless it was with a family member.. But it was alright then. Humboldt Nursing Home, behind the hospital, I don't recommend either.. Their aides there are terrible.. I mean you have some good ones, but the BAD out do the rest.. People just don't care about the elderly like they use to.. So good luck finding something..

My mom worked there years ago and it was not as bad as it is now. One if my family members was there a couple of years ago. He had a stroke and couldn't talk but he could communicate. One of the orderlies broke his toe. When we finally figured out that it happened, he was moved to Dyer. I also had another relative stay in Dyer for a short time. It is so much better and they do have activities for them and make sure they get rehab if needed. It is awful that we don't have a nice place here that people can go to.

I have had several Family Members & Church friends at The Trenton Place Nursing Home. Our Family would recommend it to anyone. We talked to the Administrator whenever we wanted to. They have a new one now, it's a woman. The one before this one was a man & we rarely ever saw him. Any Nursing Home is gonna smell like pee-pee early in the mornings, they pee in their diapers during the night. And they have a very active Activities. I have seen them bowling & having Bible studies & singers & Bingo & lots of stuff. And unless the Dining Room has been changed in the last 2 weeks, there is a T.v., clock & decorations in it. They just freshly painted it, a few months back. Most of the Activites are done there, from what I saw. they do have a Living Room Lounge area & I think it's mostly for Families to hang out with their Loved one, to get some private time. I do know that the Rehab Dept. is awesome. Someone that I know had a stroke & was like in a Trance, He walked out of there a few months later & is very grateful & would Never say a bad thing about the place & He loved the Food. If you wanna see a Crappy Nursing Home, check out the one in Milan on Stinson road. I would recommend Trenton Place to anyone that needed a Nursing Home for their loved one.

Not true! Most nursing do not smell of urine. You must of been to a lot of bad places. I worked there for five days and believe me that was too long. I've been in this profession for a very long time. This nursing home is a reflection of community and its showing..wait for it.. drug abuse, alcohol abuse and a huge lack of common sense.

I worked at Humboldt Nursing home,The Veterans Home, and the one on the bypass in Humboldt.I was a CNA and the work was very hard. And yes it has a smell sometimes before the patients are cleaned up in the mornings. They are usually always shorthanded because not many people can do the jobs in a nursing home. They have to be special people and I was one of them I am proud to say.I truly enjoyed my job.I am 73 years od now and when I get unable to care for myself that's where I want to be.

I have been in that nursing home several times and it always smells. Dont put your worst enemy in Milan on Stinson rd. It is a mess with almost all mental patients there. It stinks worse then Trenton Place
