For the first time, it appears that more than half of all insured Americans are taking prescription medicines regularly for chronic health problems, a study shows.

It's the American way-push a pill on someone to treat the symptoms instead of finding out the actual cause of the problem and treating that. I recently averted a number of potentially serious problems by getting some quick, non-invasive (but not necessarily cheap!) tests done. Caught things in the early stages. I changed my diet and increased my activity level. Dropped about 25lbs, increased my bone density, and brought my blood chemistry numbers back into the normal range. I'm on my way back to being nearly 100% in about 8 months.

I'm 49 and have a friend who thinks it's a miracle because I don't have to take any daily long-term pills. It's no miracle it's just eating healthy and exercising!
