UHC would put an end to this practice. No longer would drug companies be able to charge and advertise whatever they want for their snake oils. Doctors would be monitored to insure patients are being handled properly and not over medicated. UHC is a good thing.

This goes to show what advertising can do for the drug companies. Nothing wrong with a good plan.
Although if i were a betting man the estimated actual need would be about 15% and the remainder are coerced into their dilemma through years of suspect advice.
If they could only make exercise in a pill form?

yep.the ads tell you that you need the drug. your jerk doctor agrees so he can make some jack. the drugs are formulated to cause other medical problems so you will need other drug manure so the jerk doctor can make some more jack to write another needless prescription so you can go on and on and on.
the drug companies and doctors are in cahoots. when there is this much money involved that is obvious?
can someone explain why nobody ever gets better taking this manure?
There are some solutions to alleviate some of this growing problem. One, the patient taking responsibility to find a better doctor. Two, making the doctors more accountable that produce these prescription drug addicts and stop letting doctors blame pharmaceutical companies when they know damn good and well what's going to happen to people when they cut multiple prescriptions needlessly.

Business; prescriptions are BIG business. Last time I was at the doctor he had a new health chart. According to this chart, what was once average, is now close to being obese. Obese is now a danger zone.
It's easier for the doc to prescribe a pill (inhaler, injection, whatever), than talking to the patient and seeing if a lifestyle change could do the trick.
Money talks (pharmecutical incentives), and we're doped...

Riiiiiight. Because, you know, every program that the government gets involved in just magically gets handled better, more efficient and cheaper for everyone. Get a clue, grumpy.

Well, you don't need a doctor to self - medicate. Just look at the rack of OTC's, vitamins and supplements (many of which are of dubious effectivity) at any store licensed to dispense meds.

It's very well stocked, which suggests a solid customer base. Anyone can consult a witch doctor or the books they write for good advice in this direction.

Does any of it work? Well, there is empirical evidence in support of 'the placebo effect'.

Where's my St. John's Wort? I just don't feel right without it.....

NOPE!

And now they are saying some plants that grow from the ground are drugs just so they can control them and discourage people from reverting to natural remedies and citing those that do.

My mom went home to be with the Lord on May 2 of this year from cancer. She was taking medication for high blood which the family believes caused the cancer. There is no documented case of cancer in my family going back three generations and maybe four.

Sorry for your recent loss. I too read about some plants being monitored for over use by lay people. They are trying scare tactics to discourage a natural use for health measures/remedies.

Because of the commotion in the rotational pull of stellar gravitational forces, the outcome is a twisted mass of perpetual poosimfipher. The forefathers have said once that proportional values equals good things and bad at the same time.

If taken into context, the way things are is the true nature of the things that may or may not or might have already taken place in the unicorn realm.

If it is agreed upon that this should change, then there are things you can do to stop it. One thing is to face the east and fart to the south while jumping in and out of a hoola hoop and holding your breath.

There is more to this but you should visit the website to find out how you can know more.

Brilliant!

If Eberly would post like that, I am sure some of us would actually visit the website!

BTW, just went outside and tried the whole East/South/Hoola Hoop/Hold Breath thing, but alas, nothing. Damn! I thought you had the cure!!! LMFAO!

On topic, no shite prescription drug use is climbing! "Ask you doctor about......"!

Do any other companies advertise anymore?!? I watched the Kentucky Derby and thought I had ED after all the friggin' commercials for the damn ED drugs! Of course the Docs are going to prescribe more drugs! The drugs do little or nothing and the Docs get paid! Pretty easy math!

For example, was sick on the road down here in TX about 6 weeks ago and had to go to the Quack...er, Doc. 102 fever, no Strep, but was prescibed a 3-day Z-PAC (Anti-bios) and a 20 day (!!!) supply of 800 mg Motrin!! Horse tablets for God's sake! I took three and quit because I could feel it eating through my stomach. Threw the stuff out after 2 days!

I paid $10. Doc got paid ??? Thanks, Doc!

Something has gotta change here, people!
