180 day school year is standard and it is rare that high school teachers teach as many hours as we teachers in Paterson do. Most start at 8:15 and go til 3:20. In neighboring districts, many start at 8 and are out at 2:35.

I graduated from JFK in 86',never would I have thought that my beloved high school would never be there.I know it's a done deal.In this day and time it's better for the powers that be to split up a piece of history for more revenue;than to actually put the time in to save every students (past and present) home.I was in JFK when Eastside was about to be taken over. What happened to our Joe Clarks?I guess those days are gone.[David Perry,Brooklyn NY]

They really only need 2 academies; one for the students who want to learn, and the other to hold the future adult criminals of tomorrow, until they are old enough to go to prison.

JFK and Eastside are just 2 "teen"daycare centers. A place for teens to go from 8-3pm. Thats it.
I graduated from PCTI and my wife graduated from a performing arts high school. All of our friends that went onto JFK or Eastside became nothing. No job, no income, no passions, nothing! Other than dependents on my tax dollars.
