recycling center

Grosse Ile, MI

#1 Feb 5, 2009
Today, taking a car load for myself and my parents across town to the recycling center, was greeted by a survey person for the city, compiling data on how many residents use the town recycling center.
I became alarmed when she said the budget meetings were coming up, and all I could think was, "they wouldn't possibly discontinue recycling??!!"
A couple years ago, the town discontinued picking up recyclables (due to lack of interest)??.
It seems recycling is not a major priority in and for the city of Trenton....I know times are hard, but anything we don't have to put in a landfill would so benefit us all.
I come from the East coast, and the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont wouldn't think of burying a can or bottle or piece of plastic
as of the last 20 or so years, with the cooperation of many like minded citizens.
Land fills are not the answer to our glutted and wasteful lifestyles.
