Amen and Amen to that. I was born and raised in Minnesota and now live in Louisiana. Just three years a go I was diagnosed with PTSD also. When I came back from Vietnam at the ripe old age of 19, I to was spit on and called Ungodly names but didn't know why. It came to the put where we were told not to wear our uniforms to the airports anymore so people wouldn't treat us so bad. I was proud of my uniform and my ribbons. I have a son who served in Iraq and may go to Afghanistan and he too is a Marine. But to all the vets in Minnesota, my heart and prayers are with you and God Bless, its about time.

God bless you, reneg8d69, and all our service men and women who have served (and continue to serve) our country with distinction and honor. You DID NOT DESERVE the despicable treatment you received. You were right. They were wrong.

I spent the day at the celebration thanking veterans for their service and welcoming them home. I hope that we never forget the sacrifice that our veterans have made for our country, in times of war and peace. For all of you who complain about the military, these are the people that have guaranteed your right to complain!!

Parades and memorials are always welcome, and blaming the random spitter must be cathartic in some measure, but how about let's hold the government accountable for using our soldiers as pawns in their game and then not giving them the care and support they earned in return? The existence of homeless vets is an indictment of past cynical government policies, not the antiwar movement that tried to stop them.

Prove it. This is just a so called reporter spreading rumors without substantiation. A quick look at the St. Paul fish wrap and the Strib and WCCO and KSTP archives in addition to the on line police reports have absolutely no reports of any incidents of spitting on soldiers returning from Vietnam. Either that guy is embellishing his story, and the reporter is willingly being fed a load of nonsense, or the so called reporter is just a stenographer with an agenda to push. Once again, have this alleged reporter do some fact checking and earn her pay. If she can't back up her claims then she needs to issue an errata and resign.

Regardless of what happened in the past... we can only control the future. I believe we have learned a great deal from Nam and those that fought there. We now do have greater respect for our armed services and I think that credit goes directly to the Nam era soldiers that were not received as they deserved. Walk tall. I feel changing America's views (for the better) is the largest and toughest task ever. Not to diminish the he!! you must have all went through. Yesterday is gone.
Today I thank each and every one of you for your sacrifices and service to this great country. YOU are the reason, guys like me can hold my head high with pride.... not for what I have done but for what others have done for me. God Bless...... I think he would say...... at ease!
