Why is this news? Because he was black? A scholarship in his name? All that's said is he was a lovable goofy guy, not an A++ student. Chances are he was doing crazy chit on that skateboard and probably didn't pay attention to traffic like most skateboarders do. It's never a good thing when a young kid dies and I do sympathize with the family, but I don't feel this should've made the news.

Were criminal charges ever filed against the driver? Why did he not see the kid? Prayers to his family.

I was wondering the same thing. It doesn't qualify for a new. Probably his stupidity is causing now so much pain to his family and to the driver and his family.

First off why were no criminal charges filed?? If I walk or skateboard out in from of your car and you hit me, should you be arrested? As far as the other comment about skateboarders not paying attention to traffic... no that goes for alot of people including grown adults, and finally why is it a news story..A kid was killed and his life ended too young.. that is the story in itself. As far as the stupidity deal.. don't tell me you have never had a close call involving you walking and someone else in a vehicle nearly hitting you!!If you say no you haven't lived long enough or live in a bubble.

Probably when he realized that if he were to die, nobody would even notice or care.

I just let the wretched wallow in their own misery, since they know the only way people will ever listen to their worthless, self-centered opinions is by commenting on the local news message board.

Rest in Peace Denzell...

Mounring troops that die overseas was determined to be unpatriotic and unamerican by the current administration.

And, well actually, the survivors do recieve something more than a "cold casket with a flag". Burial expences are covered by the government, you recieve SGLI money (up to $400,000), if the spouse you can still recieve Tricare medical coverage, the spouse will still get a monthly check, his or her children will be covered by Tricare, you still retain base priveledges, etc... While it is a TERRIBLE thing when a soldier dies, you are just feeding into the myth with your own ignorance. Try doing some research first.
