The two above must not know Capt. Clark. He is a true professional and would serve Middlesex County proudly. You keyboard quarterbacks couldn't do 1/1000 th of what he can. Good luck Gordie, disregard the idiots.

Why not give Capt. Clark a shot. At least he worked his way up for over 30 years. He can verbalize policy and procedure like no one I've ever seen. In my professional dealings with Mr. Clark over the last 15 or so years he has always represented Middlesex County well. During those years there were times when we strongly disagreed with each other but Mr. Clark's work ethic and dedication to duty were some of his strongest attributes. Good luck!

Apparently this guy can't read a full article and then make an intelligent comment about it. I believe it says specifically in the article that Clark will suspend his pension if he gets the position.

On a side note, Gordon Clark is one of the few people I have met in my lifetime that I can truly say is a great guy. The total family guy who saw his son and daughter through college via working tireless hours upon hours. Now his two children are respectively a registered nurse and a police officer. His constant commitment to his job and coworkers is a credit to his work ethic. I would dare anyone to find someone who has met or worked alongside Gordon, and have them have anything bad to say about this man. Try to find that in any "political" candidate anywhere.

I think it should be someone that has not worked in the department or has not worked in the middlesex sheriff's office. I feel someone that lives in the county and that might work for a sheriff's department. The problem with the middlesex sheriff's department is not some of the employees that work there. Most of the employees are hard workers but they really don't need someone that just worked there to take over the place. People I have talked to would scrutinize any person that works or has worked there to take over as sheriff. Most people feel it should go to someone that has no ties to anyone in that place. This way there will be no favortism right away especially if they are an outsider. Mr. Clark did spend 30 years there and I am sure was a well respected a great employee. However, my only complaint about Mr. Clark is the fact that he did work there for 30 years and are you sure Mr. Clark won't play favorites when promoting people within the department. That has gone on for years and I feel if you get an outsider that doesn't really have a connection to that place things might be different. I am not saying it is guaranteed it will happen but Mr. Clark, I am sure he has some favortism towards some of the employees that he worked along with for 30 years. Mr. Clark just might promote people that are not fully qualified for their positions and get their new positions based on his liking towards or relationship with them. Promotions should be based on merit and possibly experience and educational background. I am not saying Mr. Clark would not make a bad sheriff but i am just saying I feel it should be someone completely outside that has no ties to the department and will be completely unbiased when it comes to promotions and major decisions within the department.

I think Gordon Clark is the only logical choice. I hope our Governor doeesn't do what he has done with every other appointment he has made. We all get it Governor you love women and minorities. How about the best candidate for the job? Oh I forgot that is how you got where you are.

I think Mr. Clark is a perfect fit for the job. He has a NO POLITICS approach to that job. He knows how to get rid of the fat and waste that is within the Sheriffs Office. He is a stand up family guy who would like to improve a place where he has worked his entire career. Every time the governor makes a political appointee it is usually someone with no experience and is just looking for a cozy place to boost their pension. Mr. Clark has put in thousands of hours of his own time helping his department and other agencies throughout Middlesex County. He did it because he wanted it done right, when he could have mailed it in like so many others have. Just remember it takes team work to make a dream work. Good luck Captain Clark(ret).

Gordy Clark would make a GREAT sheriff. He was and still is well respected by the members of the MSO.He understands what it is to be a C.O. He understands the rank structure and respects it.He is NOT a HACK looking for a paycheck. He has stated if choosen he would wave his pension.Gov .Patrick this is a no-brainer,WE need an expierenced C.O. at the TOP,not a state rep or a registrar.PLEASE do the right thing so we can move forward in a brighter direction with a leader who is just that a LEADER!!

Are all of you people serious, do you really want another guy from the department that is being investigated for doing illegal fundraising while on the job. The Fox News report brought up some serious allegations not about just the sheriff but also about the deputies and other employees being investigated as well. You people want another former employee of the MSD to take over. That might lead to more corruption. If you really want someone to take over that knows the place that is probably the straightest shooter from that place over the last 30 years is Mr. Paul Norton. He would be a great sheriff.

I think Clark be the perfect cadidate. I have known him over 10 years. We met at the police academy. As long as I have known him, he has always exhibited a high level of professionalism and great leadership abilities. I have experience as both a police officer and corrections officer. He has a true love for the law enforcement profession and I could not imagine a better candidate.

I wonder how much Mr. Clark and all the other white shirts donated to get their white shirt positions. According to Fox News and the person they interviewed it was around 5,000.

I can answer that for you. Zero. He didn't pay one cent. Ask anyone who works there. Don't post things that are not true.

They should just eliminate the office and merge the operations with the State Police. It worked in clearing out the MDC fat laden bureaucracy.

So you are saying that not one white shirt including him paid for their jobs and that the fox news report that ran on the white shirts paying for their jobs was a bunch of lies. Everyone of those white shirts paid for their jobs. I am sure there are plenty of people that can testify about that. You are naive if you think that none of them paid for their positions. Come on Someone who really knows get serious.
