Pepperell weighs future of regional school district

Full story: Lowell Sun

These days, Jonna Clermont's chance meetings with local residents often turn into instant summits about the potential merger between the North Middlesex Regional and Lunenburg school districts.

Arnie got lucky that's all. You're like the rest of the leadership in this district. You think if you say something enough people will believe it.........doesn't work.
Hey Amnesia, did you know that more people voted against Johna than they did for her? You must be a math teacher!

Joe Sergi has NO right even weighing in on how our School District is run. His kids have been in private school from the time they were able to go. He has no intentions on schooling them locally. He doesn't care about how they are run, other than gutting them to say he saved the town money. Could this be a move to bigger politics? Say he saved the town millions, then go on to bigger and better things as the town's school district fall to ruins?

Hey, genius...you missed the point. More people in Pepperell voted to change the status quo of their representation. They were tired of a rep. who thinks he's been appointed to do the thinking for them.
So--oh great mathematician, 902 of the 1611 voters (before the recount showed that Silva only won by 11 votes) voted for CHANGE. Do the math.

Oh, you must be bored on your day off. Nice posts.
Town officials have a vested interest in the school district, so no one's buying your crapola. Doesn't matter where they send their kids.
These officials are reflecting their disenchantment with the ineptitude of those responsible for managing the school district. The town has been at the mercy of what the school committee, which seems to REPORT TO(and not vice versa)the supt., put forth.
Town officials can't evade their constituents' concern re: the incompetence of the mismanagement of the school district, and they wouldn't try by moving on to another opportunity.
You seem to think that only the town officials are frustrated with the supt. and school committee. You would be wrong. You'll see at the public hearings.

Joe Sergi was just nominated UNANIMOUSLY to represent the towns in union negotiation. Hmmm...seems like all the district town officials trust him to represent them fairly. Looks like you're sweating it...I wonder why.

Duh--where have you been? The school district has been "falling to ruins" under Marshall's mismanagement, with the blind endorsement of her boot lickers on the school committee. How many projects/ideas have they been working on, as distractions to avoid focusing on the budget or a long-term fiscal plan? Anything but the school budget.
Meanwhile respected teachers and other key officials in the district jump ship. I wonder why. Bye to those who left for Quabbin, Tikonoff who retired, Mike Flanagan who returned to Tyngsboro, and Gerry Martin who "retired" to Groton-Dunstable (riiight...nice "retirement"). Seems like NM has its own version of the "Titanic." Funny how this "captain" seems to manage to hang on as the ship sinks into the abyss.

OK, I did the math. 55.6% didn't vote for Silva. So you are ASSuming that everyone who voted for the 3rd candidate would not vote for Silva. Maybe you should have pressured the 3rd guy out.

And, BTW, I wonder how much that recount cost you taxpayers??

Had you been paying attention, you would have known that two of the candidates (not Silva) articulated a call for change. You are ASSuming people in town are so unengaged and uninformed that had they not voted for "the third candidate," they would have voted for the person who directly CONTRADICTED EVERYTHING the other two candidates supported. If you think Pepperell voters would have voted for Silva as their second choice after either of the other candidates, then you are ASSuming voters in Pepperell are uneducated and uninformed. Wow--such disdain.
Btw, who was appointed to "pressure the third guy out"? Didn't catch their name. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm just stating the facts.
Had you been paying attention, you would have even caught I had spelled "genius" for you.

Sounds like Sour grapes over there. It's politics people. The person who gets the most votes wins. Twist it any which way you want. Sounds like better campaigning needs to be done. Also sounds like a bunch of Yuppies moved to the country and now want Newton West.

Your comments only proves your disconnect with the town and district, for that matter.

Yeah, there are always people who p*ss and moan in this town, especially about the selectmen, the town clerk and the list goes on, not that any of it is founded in fact. I've seen it non-stop in these forums...just the usual stitch-n-*itch.
You can't really question the unanimous vote of those who chose him to represent the district in union negotiations. And that's a fact.

..

I would go after Scott to replace the current. She has run Lowell well. Running Lowell is probably the same as running 5 regional districts. The politics failed the students of Lowell.

Sure, that's why the selectman in Townsend and Ashby unanimously elected him to represent their towns in negotiations with the upcoming teachers union in NMRSD regarding their upcoming new contract.

There are 4000 students alone at Lowell High School. That's the same as all the students at North Middlesex Regional School District.

Sorry again, Joe likes his help to be high priced but he might consider Peter Shattuck if it continues to be a part time job. Isn't this about union negatiations?
