The only things that can be done to fight against the greedy monopoly of Unitil are to support the Muni choice bill. Write our legislators and get them to support and pass this bill so we will at least have the option of forming a municipal utility company and kick Unitil out. The other thing you can do is look into solar. There is a company called Sun Run solar that offers purchase or lease options for residential solar panels that look pretty affordable, with a lower monthly electric bill than Unitil.

Unitil is a joke and so isn't mayor Wong. Nothing is ever going to get done to lower our utility bills, so the only thing I can do is pay it, and get over it. If it hasn't happened in the past 2 years, what are the chances that we're going to be heard now? The next time an election comes around, remind the people running for office about the ice storm, and vote for someone else.

Good thinking, there is nothing I would rather do than spend thousands to have ugly panels installed on my roof and batteries in my basement so I can save five dollars a month.

Actually the savings are quite more than $5 a month with all the government incentives and grants, why dont you try looking it up before posting a smartass remark on here. Or just continue to be an ignorant lemming to Unitil if you'd like.

Since when is Mayor Wong in control of the weather and Uniswil... You're showing your buttocks again. You can decide to lay down and take it like a abused person or you can be an adult and join with others who share the same opinion. United WE stand... well maybe not you. You seem like a WW2 appeaser. This evil empire,(to use your lovers W's term) Uniswil is in for a revolt and with the overwhelming disdain for these foul energy dictators we can get the change we all agree we need. A municipal non profit utility. The time is long overdue for these monopolies to dissolve! Write or call Rep.Steven DiNatale and remind him of the noble struggle to allow the formation of a city utility to free us all!

Wow, for the first time I actually saw a semi intelligent post from the small minded Sonny, then the real Sonny came through on this post! Please tell us what Martha has done to protect us against Unitil. Provide one FACT about how she has helped us. She has done nothing, she is in the pockets of Unitil along with the DPU.
You are wrong!!!

Sorry, Joe from Kokomo, there are no other suppliers for residential customers in the Unitil area and there never has been. The only Unitil customers that have that option are businesses.
I live in Lunenburg and WE ARE FED UP WITH UNITIL. We are currently working on getting rid of Unitil. Fitchburg is also working on booting Unitil out of the area. Businesses are tired of Unitil as well.

Prove me wrong, show some facts! After all the dog and pony show of the DPU hearings she did NOTHING, just like the DPU. Unitil got a slap on the wrist, which was approved by her! The only legislators that have done anything are DiNatale and Flanagan. At least they pushed the Unitil bill which allows the state to take them over during an emergency. Martha is just another puppet of Unitil.

Proof? Nothing, you say? She did nothing??? Have your mother read this link and explain it to you.

http://www.env.state.ma.us/dpu/docs/electric/...

And here is an excerpt from the 51 page document in the link above.

"G.L. c. 164 § 1F(7) directs the Department to establish a code of conduct and service quality regulations for the distribution and transmission of electricity and to hold utilities accountable. If a utility “violates any provisions of said service quality code or of any service quality rule or regulation, standard or directive promulgated by the department pursuant to sections 1A to 1H, inclusive, or any provision of chapter 93A, it may be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $25,000 for each violation for each day up to a maximum civil penalty of $1,000,000 for any related series of violations.”
Unitil’s conduct violated chapter 93A and Department service quality rules, regulations, standards or directives before the December 2008 Ice Storm and during its response to the Ice Storm. As further set forth below, the Department should fine Unitil a total of $4.6 million for these violations of service quality standards and G.L. c. 93A violations."

DPU is the agency you should be uspset with and focus your anger upon. They decided it wasn't in their perview to impose fines the AG said should be levied.

Martha Coakley is an Attorney with limited power... you seem to infer that these battles she is waging are all going in her favor, is all in her hands... You are very simple in your thinking. You, who rail against big government, have no common sense and your thinking is askew. Perhaps you should go back to civics class and reread the checks and balances paragraph again, because you seem to be blaming her for things YOU can't figure out.

I have everyone in my house on light patrol...and I still pay WAY too much for the service we sometimes receive here in Ashby :)~ I have lived in Boston, Boxboro, Leominster and Ashby and never have I been so over charged for electricity as here with Unitil.
They need to be stopped dead in their tracks...enough already with more charges for such bad service!
Who do we yell at because this is just not something we can afford to let happen!
Maybe the CEO would like to stay with my family thru a windy day here in Ashby...lets see what he thinks about asking me to pay more!
God forbid it snows and is windy!
I remember the 14 days with no electricity after the ice storm.... I guess he does not!
