Fitchburg approves nearly $1M in Community Development Block Grants

I would like to see the break down of block grant spending over the last six years! What would we see?
How about $300,000 for beautification projects which include elder home repairs. Then $300,000 for small business loans. Take $400,000 and hire 16 workers to repair roads, clean grafitti and sweep streets???
Homes should be demolished by waste management as part of a new contract! But the soft politicians gave the shaft to the citizens of Fitchburg again.
They polluted our air, water and land for years. The city is not getting compensated enough! And to top it off the city just saved waste management millions through its new program while the city is now stuck with the mountains of trash that has piled up since the new trash cans.
They still should be taking big items for nothing! The city got the shaft in that negotiation/screwing!!! Now it will trickle down to the tax payers again!
1 Million and you throw the elderly $65,000 ??
Next time if it isn't too late have the developers rehab and or rebuild exisitng homes and empty lots before you allow them to build 30 $500,000 homes which caused a massive rain water collection through the basins and into our sewer system!

Well, Lynch, you can always show up at the public hearing on April 25th. Unless you're banned from Putnam Place as well. Do the terms of your probation allow you to speak at public hearings?
#4 Mar 15, 2013
I will definately be there. When I say this I show up so I will see you there. Again, I am not on probation! Get a clue.
You sure know a lot about public hearings. I do not think that city council meetings are held there but I will double check. One million in block grant funding and only $65,000 for elderly affairs?
How about we dedicate most of it to repair homes?

Private home repairs?
#6 Mar 15, 2013
Such private home repairs would assist elder residents with things such as painting, roof repair and other such grants. Other funds could be loaned to business and citizens that is repaid with interests.
I wouldn't worry about it as most of the funds are being airmarked for grant writing costs.being a University host you would think that such grant writing may be donated to the city through a job shadowing type of education.
The city council is also exploring the possibility of taking money from the water and sewer increases in order to pay for its pension system. We were told at the last ward 4 & 5 meeting that state law doesn't allow such appropiations. But they are exploring the loop holes as Mayor Wong has stated.

What about the state law that allows Unitil to run as a monopoly? I believe that it states that Unitil must own 100% of the poles and it does not!!!
Why doesn't the Mayor and city councilor ever raise these questions?
I say it is time for Fitchburg to recieve its on municipality concerning electric and gas. Already the city purchases energy from another company besides Unitil.
Can the city co-op a municipality with its electric company?
And can residents purchase electricity off the same company that the city purchases from?
#8 Mar 15, 2013
So to break it down you want the city to pay to paint your mommys home and put a new roof on it? I thought you were some kind of master carpenter? Surely you could be like a normal person and afford these improvements yourself. I can't understand why you believe it's the city's job to take care of your mommys home? Should the city also pay for someone to cook and clean at the house for you too? Maybe help you wipe your fat lazy azz?
#9 Mar 15, 2013
If the city is going to hand out ca$h for home repairs/improvements how do I get my hands on some to put a heater in my in-ground pool so that I can get an extra month out of it every season?
#10 Mar 15, 2013
OK, just agree with the city council as they have done such a wonderful job! They tell the citizen one thing and then do another?
$65,000 towards elder needs and $200,000 plus for grant writing?? It is the same with all projects, the first million to the connected ones for doing Nothing and then $50,000 for the workers!
Why bother, right? My mommy has paid for her own repairs. And I help her all the time. I was talking about other seniors who are cash strapped! Just a neighborly thought, excuseme for caring for our elders!
Maybe we should just give all the money to politically connected individuqals ,huh?
Maybe we should continue to allow sheriffs to double dip in the pension system and then chuckle when it is discovered. As the governor states , that silly sherriff double dipping...".
Or should we double all frirefighters and police salaries right before they retire??? What do you think?
It can be like, get me the votes and I will double your salary just before retirement. Great management skills!!!!!!!!
Then the mayor can become a vulture attacking struggling elders, huh? For profit, right? Shut their water off, take their home and shove them into a federally and state funded elder building.
It all comes down to the day that the federal and state government has to pay for such philosophys!!!!
I would like to see if the Governors plan to cut healthcare from city and state employees upon retirement includes police and fire??? What do you think??

FITCHBURG -- One-time mayoral candidate Kevin A. Lynch on Thursday agreed to comply with terms of a 2 1/2-year pretrial probation on charges that he attacked an off-duty police officer last year.
Lynch, 42, of 48 Cedar St.,#2, is ordered to not commit any misdemeanor or felony crimes, to abide by any existing harassment orders, and to not publicly comment in writing about the officer, or the officer's family, in relation to the case. Lynch is also barred from pursuing civil action related to the incident against the Fitchburg police, JR's Pub or any of their employees.
Last March, Lynch was arrested on charges that he attacked Officer Kerry Siomos outside the North Street pub after yelling at Siomos and threatening to kill the officer and his family.
The charges of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime will be dropped after 2 1/2 years if Lynch complies with all terms.

One quote from now on in reply to your harrassing: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xv9wq_bobdyl...

You are really on probation until September of 2014? Can you clear that up for us?
#14 Mar 15, 2013
Harassing? I don't think so. Unlike your constant harassment of people on these boards. The mayor? The president of the university? The chief of police? The fire chief? The DA? Judges? DPW workers? Cops? Firemen? Hard working taxpayers (who are people unlike yourself)?
Stop playing the victim. You are a menace to society.
#15 Mar 16, 2013
You are harrassing me as you are constantly stalking me. You knowingly are violating my civil rights. Leave my sexual identity alone you sicko!
You constant overwhelming harrassment is clear for everyone to see.

Throw in an Indian and you've got the Village People and then he might like you... It's fun to stay at the YMCA!

the mayor lacks many skills and blinks tto much
#18 Mar 17, 2013
The mayor has more skills in her little pinky than you could ever dream of having, professor.

Block grants are to renovate parts of the public entities for the whole of the community and residents. So parks will be built where there are empty decrepet lots.
IT IS NOT for residents or businesses. If that was the case then every homeowner will be entitled to a new roof and the people who don't own a home get nothing.

The city signed a contract with Unitil for 99 years in 1950. This is a legal binding contract and cannot bb broken under any circumstances.
The city is stuck with Unitil until 2049 and no other power company wanted to purchase their entity as that was the only way out of the contract.
The reason they signed Unitil is that Unitil stated they will do everything to provide services to the city, which was unheard of back then as many municipalities were operating their power company and that was costing 3 times as much back then.
Even though the paper mills had their own power generating steam plant (yes, that's the big building on the other side of the river on River St. behind the walking path) the city was still obligated to provide power to other mills and needed Unitil at the time.
The city has attempted to break the contract but they would have to purchase all of Unitil's poles, wires, equipment and even pay for some of Unitil's employees salaries which would cost almost a billion dollars.
Again the city should have a question and answer forum for the public who may not know why things are done the way they are done.
But then again let the Mayor do her job because YOU are not the Mayor. Most of the answers to your questions are very simple but the normal average resident does not have an obscession with the city's operating plan.

I think that he should run for mayor.
His complete lack of understanding as to how things work in the real world (i.e., not prison), absolutely crazy ideas as well as a torrent of slander, hysteria, paranoia and complete nonsense just don't get enough exposure on one forum.
A run for mayor would let him get up in front of an audience (wearing the Scally cap, of course)and on cable and have a much larger group of people scratching their heads in disbelief and saying things like:
"Surely this is some kind of gag"
"I thought Professor Irwin Corey was older?"
"Honey, isn't that the same man who was taking photos of your license plate this morning?"
A run for mayor could be just the comic relief tonic that this city needs.
There would be fist fights. Restraining orders. He would threaten to sue hundreds of people. Let's share the insanity!
