Fitchburg councilors: Mayor's pay isn't enough

According to some councilors, the amount currently being given -- which has stayed the same for many years -- isn't nearly enough for the requirements of the job.

You might feel better if you move out of Fitchburg. Manhattan has a lot of street lights.

All my tax paying friends in this town agree with your opinion and have had enough
With negotiation that takes years, get the job done, turn the street light on .
Then (council) can talk about a raise.

I agree council should really be talking about how they can restore the street lights that former
Politicians worked so hard to obtain. It shouldn't take years to negotiate with unitil. You need to maintain what we already have (parks,pools,street lights and so on). Make it beatiful and light it up! Then business will come,and crime will go find some other dark hole to climb under.

A follower? Really? That's your assessment of this mayor? She's the first who has tried to stabilize the finances. What kind of petitions are being ignored? Petitions go to the council for ratification - doesn't matter if she ignores them. That's the check and balance part of government. Surely you know that.

She has catered to FSU. She has protected unlawful behaviors. Petitions to turn the lights back on were collected. this is the publics interests which she ignored! The trash program was voted down but she implemented it as there are now added cost to every citizen through trash fees.

So, having a better bond rating is wonderful! If only the city paid back any loans that it has made such as to finance its pension system it would then matter.

It is all smoke and mirrors as nothing is getting done for the citizens but for we all have less services and pay much higher fees!!! That is the fact!!!!!!!!!!
