State is cupable in not notifying the general public of changes to the sunpass. They don't use the transponder anymore to identify you as a sunpass user. They take a photo of your tag. If you don't have the tag registered with sunpass you get a notice of money due. If you don't pay when due, they suspended your drivers license. You have to pay $60. just to get your license re-instated plus $46. in additional fees. Then you have to go to court and explain to the judge that you prepaid your sunpass and sunpass violated your right to the service for which you paid. That is a direct violation of everything you expected the day you signed up for the service. The state is running a big fat lie scheme. Taking your money, giving you no service and taking away your legal rights. This is an outrageous fraud and should be stopped now. Those of you who wish to fight better take the issue up with your local representatives. We must be heard so please jump on the band wagon. Thanks, Matt

I have a vehicle registered in my name but my fiance also drives the
vehicle using a Sunpass transponder which is in his name. The problem
is the transponder was not deducting the tolls, there was a problem
with it, and he uses it about 3-4 times a day. The surprise was, I
received in my mailbox 12 separate tickets from Broward County and
another 10 from Pam Beach County, a total of 22 citations.
We did receive a few warnings along with actual traffic citations. We
have been going back and forth to the Sunpass Office. At present all
the fees are paid up and nothing pending, but these tickets still
remain on my driving record, when I checked on-line. Now I have to
pay visits to Broward and Palm Beach County Traffic Divisions to
straighten things out, which means plead "Not Guilty" in court. I
have to take time out from work, pay court fees and still have to
deal with the removal of those items. I think that Sunpass should be
able to straighten out those ticket issues with FDOT and not the
motorist. When I went to the office the clerk said that this is
happening very frequently, as a matter of fact the record was a woman
with 92 citations. The person in line before me had 24 citations. I
imagine this is causing a back load of work for state employees as
well as irritated motorists.
This is jeopardizing licences records. Why is this system not
working properly. Why is a system allowed to generate so many
citations to one individual. Have you been familiar with this
complaint from motorists? This is really upsetting. What can I do next?
Please fix this system, if there is zero tolerance then the booths
need to be functioning correctly as well as those transponders.
If these citations are generated then it should not go on a
motorist's record, but first go to the Sunpass office and cleared.

2013-Nov: Their IVR phone-based dial-in account management / funding system is deplorable. I attempted to call in on a weekend morning, before heading on a cross-state trip, to add funds to my Sunpass. I recently was upgraded for FREE to their latest battery-free device by using www.sunpasstagswap.com
Firstly, their phone system was distracted by the slightest background noise which is unavoidable while driving.
Next, their phone system allowed me to make it all the way to the very last step of adding funds to the account, before informing me that "Sunpass is closed" and that I should "visit the Sunpass website" ... before it said "goodbye" and disconnected my call.
During that frustrating call, I was introducing a new credit card to my account, selecting a funding amount, etc - all of which took several phone calls (not merely one, due to the aforementioned noise) and a large block of phone time - only to be informed that their so-called "automated system" was UNABLE to process the request?!
I've been a Sunpass customer for many years and, while their in-car technology may be improving, their automated IVR always was and seemingly remains deplorable.

You weren't, by any chance, trying to accomplish all this over the speakerphone in your car, were you?

Never had any problems with SunPass. It's always worked and never had any billing problems. Adding funds through the website is fast and easy.

The only question I had is when I noticed that I was charged for a vehicle towing a trailer which I wasn't. The rep at SunPass told me I was following the car in front of me to close and that was the reason for the extra billing.

Other than that, it's been flawless.
