Yeah, don't forget that the previous guy, Jeff Spiegel and his wife, get free health insurance for life from FFSD--all for agreeing to stay on until McCoy could be groomed to take the job.

This is costing the district about $600/day!!! just in salary.

Meanwhile, over in HSD, Steve Price got a juicy buyout after being let go. So HSD is effectively paying two supers as we speak, so they are basically paying $1200/day for that position--7 days a week, 365 days a year!!!!!

A few billion here, a few billion there, pretty soon we'll be talking about real money.

Today's lesson: Votes have consequences folks, even for school district board members. Votes have consequences. Remember.

I think far too many people agree with you that votes have consequences -- especially the votes on American Idol or Dancing With The Stars. Sadly, we get what we deserve. The school districts don't seem to care about spending other people's money. After all, if they run out of money they can simply put to the voters a request for a tax increase.

So now they want the DOJ to investigate for possible racial motives??
Really?? They just renewed his contract.
Hey, NEGROES, you can't blame everything on race
Sometimes performance does matter.
I bet this is not so much performance based, everything I heard says he was doing a great job.
My guess is it is somehow related to the failed Normandy SD.

Here's the deal. Get rid of all those white faces on the board, replace them with a bunch of black faces, and it's a given. In less than six months FFSD will have joined the ranks of Riverview, Normandy, St Lou city and any other failure associated with blacks. Testimony to the biggest black loser of them all, the Bamma man. Just goes to show you can't put a black in charge of anything and expect it to succeed. Can I have an amen for the Bammer and his very successful ACA? Lord bless his nappy little head.

this is so true, you can't put a negro in charge of anything,as it is sure to fail. the truth is he wants to bring in all the students from Normandy and riverveiw,he doesn't care about your property values or the performance of the schools,it's all about the money. this man is way over paid for what he does. as soon as you put a negro in charge of anything they start robbing the till. keep bringing the normandy negros in and our schools are doomed. hell, it already sounds like the chimp house at the zoo now when you walk in.

Read in today's Post-Dispatch that McCoy grew up in North County but attended and graduated from Lafayette High (in Wildwood). How is that possible in the 1990's? Could students just pick and choose what high school to attend? I don't think so. Were North County high schools not good enough for him? Now they're good enough for him to make a hefty salary from right?
Perhaps he illegally attended Lafayette as a non-resident and they should send him a bill.

My guess is he used a city address to get a busing slot. Dishonest? Yes. Unheard of? No.

I hope that the board opens up discussions with the populace as to what is going on. FFSD is not doing so well and the taxpayers recently denied a tax rate increase.

State legislators and others really want a modern airport/industrial complex next door to FFSD and are willing to give the tax breaks to get it. This is very important to the area and the state as a future economic engine.

There are folks in Ferguson working hard to create a renaissance of sorts. It is a walkable, bikable community with solid housing stock and a nice mainstreet. It is close to major employment centers, UMSL and Metrolink, and is close enough to two major highways without having the noise and pollution. Kinloch is being redeveloped into part of the airport industrial complex, as will be Berkeley--at least the section along I-170.

Now is the time for FFSD to think big, as in how to reinvent itself so as to be part of the solution and not the problem.

If its just going to go on as another struggling urban school district with all of the same problems associated with that demographic, and fashion itself as a job and contract machine for the black community, its going to get rolled out and replaced--that is guaranteed. That scheme is well known in the halls of the state legislature and won't be allowed. Ain't gonna happen.

Ok--let's cut this racist attack on a man who obviously has more brains than
most of you will ever know. If FFSD has or had any chance at being successful,
you might want somebody in the leadership realm to at least look like
the students being taught.

It's 2013 and I am appalled at the racist statements posted here! Read
some history people. Most of the things that you use everyday and love
were invented by Black people. You have got to be kidding me that you
don't know. Oh, I guess that's because this America may only be for the
races that think they are superior!

And if truth be told--Spiegle didn't have to train McCoy. He was doing most
of the work behind the scenes. Talk what you know! And, quit calling names.
Maybe you don't know a thing about educating.

what did the blacks invent besides arm robbery or how to get a check without working? you would think they invented child birth by how many future little thiefs they give birth to. i guess they did have something to do with the 40 oz. beer being invented.gotta give credit where credit is due. i know they are to blame for crippling this country.

You need to learn to ignore the few chuckleheads that are consistantly race baiting.... but...
So far the only racism i've seen in this situation has been from the NAACP STL, Dooley, ect for even suggesting this was racially motivated.
Ask yourself a couple of questions, Wasn't Mr McCoy black when they hired him?
Also, just what has McCoy done for the district? specifically list his acheivements please.
If Mr McCoy was wronged by the all white school board how come he's not talking?

@Relax - I think the reason some people may think this MIGHT have been racially motivated is the way in which it was done. Dr McCoy has good numbers, huge support from parents and staff and had his contract renewed this past April. I am somewhat close to a good chunk of the Board, and I have not heard ONE thing about him that was negative. The secrecy of the Board in most policy matters makes it difficult to know if there are serious differences between it and Dr McCoy, or what they are.Lots of Closed Meeting stuff - the public rarely if ever is privy to anything. My gut feeling is there is something major they don't want to play out in the public realm - working with failed districts perhaps?- because the masters that elected them and the people that they actually are supposed to serve are two different things. Look for some BS technical thing to come out, then the blaming of the "race card players' for causing a fuss, and we will never know what the REAL game was. And I can assure you, its noy about the race of Dr Mc Coy.

In fact, given the character of at least two Board members, it would not surprise me if they did'nt call the NAACP themselves.

most of the public doesn't even know McCoy. the board is doing this for a good reason. the blacks need to stop playing the race card every time something doesn't go their way. why do they think there should be a negro on the school board? these people are voted in. i don't think this problem has anything to do with McCoy's race, only race card players are bitching about it. and yes,he was blackwhen the white board hired him. to the dumbass negros out there, GIVE IT A REST!

When our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns it is my sincere hope that those of you who portray such ignorance will be judged as harshly as you have judged. I am not at liberty to divulge this information or the source therein, but I assure you that Dr. McCoy committed no crime or wrongdoing in any way. It was an act of generosity and selflessness in which the board did not agree that ultimately led to his suspension. Do I believe it was racially motivated, possibly. Yes, he was black when they hired him, most likely with the expectation that he would fail our children and schools. He has made it a priority to visit each school in the district and introduce himself to students, teachers and parents. He was more than just a name, he was a face and a presence. That's more than can be said for his predecessor. Dr. McCoy has not commented because he holds in to hope that his position will be reinstated, not because of wrongdoing. And no I am not black, I am a white mother with a white husband and 4 white children who happens to think this black man has made a tremendous impact in the FFSD.

Not that I think its going to change anything you think, but not all who are upset over this are black, os ascribe racial motives to the Board's action.

I am aware of that. I just wanted to let it be known that I'm not black before someone assumed that's why I felt so strongly about this issue
