The SRS social worker made judgements according to her personal feeling instead of following the law and SRS policies, procedures and regulations.
SRS social workers do NOT have a criminal justice background and as such should NOT be investigating criminal acts of abuse - physical or sexual.
Due to this social workers acts she should have not only lost her license but also lost her job way before the death of this child.
This is a broken system that is out of control.
Don Jordan should be fired and SRS should be totally dismantled.
The Judge that gave the child to the abuser should be held accountable.

I am so happy to hear this. Hopefully this family will get some closure to this horrible tragedy. People that work at SRS should be compassionate towards children and take their job seriously as if every single complaint is true.(Not saying that the majority of them don't already do this.) You always have those certain people who go to work every day just to make their money and then go home. When you have a job as important as this individual has you should be worried about the well being of these children. If we as citizens don't start standing up to people who let these horrible things happen to these innocent children then we are just as much at fault as the SRS worker who didn't do his/her job. I hope for the families sake they will get through this battle and get some closure. You can never replace your loved ones, but you can get JUSTICE for them. Much luck to you on your future endevors on this case!!

It is clear to me the father is just as responsible as the step-mother and the SRS worker. ALL involved in the death of innocent Brook need to be held accountable! The grandparents and other family members have suffered far too much and deserve to see justice served! Nothing can undo the harm done not only to Brook but all of her family, however it would be far more painful to not see those responsible held accountable.

The grandparents have nobody to blame but thmselves. If they really felt that their grandkids were in dire need of care, they could have done more than what they had. The artilcle states that within a week that the children showed up with bruising when visiting the grandparents. If the timeline is correct, then that would mean somewhere in the neighborhood of mid-August. The grandparents didn't get serious until the school had contacted SRS. If it hadn't been for the school, would SRS had even been contacted. I think not. If the Crosettos wanted to make a report, they should have done it long before the school did. It seems to me two and a half months is more than enough time.

$75,000 for a wrongful death suit? What is the point of suing for only $75,000?

I don't think you understand what happened...From the time they lost their daughter till Brooklyn was taken, the Crossetos were doing everything they could...They contacted SRS before the school ever did. Why do you think they were keeping a list? Why did they keep pictures and video?

I'm not going to call you an inconsiderate anus/donkey, even though I feel that way..I prefer to think you are just ignorant of a few facts.. Many of us do blame ourselves, including the Crossetos.. Why did the SRS not get all the grandparents together and connect the dots?...I think if they had interveiwed us all, they would have had enough to take Brook and the other kids out of there. Why did they not ask? The SRS does have a resposibility. If they did all they could do under the law, that will come out in a trial...As far as to the amount they are suing for....IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!

For you to blame them seems a little cold hearted and mean. Not to mention just plain STUPID....

I was trying to make a point that it seemed a little strange that it took so long to make the report. Yes, they had the documentation, but did they do anything with it? From the way the news article read is that they did not pursue anything until the school had contacted SRS.
Trust me , I feel horrible for the family. Losing a daughter and then a grandchild is not something I wish upon anybody.

Parade Pooper, who are you to blame the Crosetto's? I don't believe you realize that they were trying to do things legally to insure their grandchildren were safe. The Crosetto's are not the type of people who are hot-headed and jump into situations without thinking and later know they could/should have done differently. They were still in shock over the sudden death of their daughter. For anyone to accuse them of not doing right is a gross untruth. As to the amount of money asked for I would think you could figure out that it isn't about money!

They did do something..SRS threw up the road block.SRS was the middle "man" in this situation..They had to make the determination..The Police will not do anything without the SRS corroborating it...

I suppose I was right in my assumption you just did not understand...I aplogize for my almost name calling...

Thank you for replying.

I have heard worse names than that before Redneck so don't worry.

The point I am trying to make in all of this is quite simple. I am not blaming the Crosettos in anyway. It just seems like to me they are trying to blame a lady at SRS when the blame should and was squarely placed on the sick individual who did this horrible act.

I feel for the family and what they have had to endure. But sometimes it is easier to let go than try to keep placing blame on others.

Just my thoughts but I am not always correct all the time.

I must agree with you, I see your point. The Crosettos went to SRS after the school got involved. They were also told by SRS when Crosetto tried to give them a copy of his records he kept track of, and SRS work Gillam told him that was a police matter. Did he go to the police, it states that Crosetto did not go to the police until a doctor told him to contact them. That was one time at Christmas time. Crosetto never tried to contact them, he was to worried about being a pain in the ass to Mellissa Wells and Randy Coons. I feel that SRS failed, along with Melissa wells, Randy Coons and the CROSETTOS.

Let it go Larry Crosetto. It is over, blaming everyone else will only get you so far. You need to deal with it personally before your healing will start.

Is Troubled citizen aware how insulting he/she is? They make it clear the life of a child is not as important as slandering Larry and Mary Crosetto. Seems Troubled citizen has issues with blaming.

I also feel that it is a sad situation of the death of the child. Maybe the money they get from the lawsuit will help them deal with the death of the child and they can start healing, but like I said they could have went to the police themselves, maybe that it is eating on Mr Crosetto and trying to blame everyone else.

This is not meant to be mean or that I feel no grief for the death of the child, it was a very sad situation but there is a lot of things broke and not all the blame should fall on SRS like it appears that it is. All individuals involved failed that little baby girl and it is a shame.

What part of "the SRS threw up the road block.SRS was the middle "man" in this situation..They had to make the determination..The Police will not do anything without the SRS corroborating it..." do you not understand?

I don't believe you..I think you are intentionally being mean and heartless..Your statement about the money shows that.

All the blame is not on the SRS, only their share.

Do you have a dog in this fight? If not, then shut up and let the system work.

I hope the Crosettos get this SRS worker fired. SRS sucks. I've only seen them in action personally, once, and they don't have a clue what they're doing. I told my husband, they must go to college to learn how to be stupid. Their decisions don't even make sense. They take kids away from people that aren't abusing them, and leave them in abusive homes. I feel so sorry for these grandparents, not to mention the little brother. I agree that the father should go away as long as the stepmother. He had to have known she was abusing the children, and maybe he was abusing them as well. Somebody needs to do something to hold these offices and workers accountable for their failures. What happened to good old common sense decisions. If a home is filthy, and the child is covered with bruises, what part of that doesn't scream abuse and neglect.

I wonder what beef Troubled citizen has with Mr. Crosetto? The comments made are sounding of a personal nature. How miserable a person they must be. Too bad they obviously have some healing of their own to do, and yet haven't accomplished it.

This Srs worker should be held legally responsible. As anyone who is a mandatory reporter knows the simple failure to report the suspicion of abuse must file a report and not doing so can result in any number of penalties up to criminal charges. If these people are required to report on suspicion to the Srs this shows that srs is expected to be held to a higher standard. I have absolutely no pity for those who abuse or fail to protect children and feel that anything short of an eye for an eye is what this little girls abusers deserve. I've seen too many kids hurt by their selfish parents who care more about their meth than their kids. The grandparents are good people and no amount of money or personal guilt will ever bring brook back. I'm glad they are willing to reveal the flaws in the system before another child is hurt.

I think the part nobody seems to understand is that the school made the first report to SRS and a phtsician that attends the same church told the grandparents to get the child examined.

I am not saying that one person is to blame. The entire system failed in this case.
