I have extra furniture - a nice couch, coffee table, end table, dishes - we combined 2 families so we have things we are no longer using. Would this help? Please let me know.

This family has enough problems and I can't believe that a Vet had the nerve to charge $2,500 for 2 days of oxygen for the dog...but wait, 20% discount was given and now the bill is only $2,000....Gezz

Maybe they should apply to Extreme Home Makeover. They sure sound like good candidates.

In response to mom of 5: Thank you! At this point it is a bit premature. If I were you I would drop a note to 2418 Dalemead torrance 90505 with your offer. When things come along a bit further, the family has a way of contacting you.

There was NO DISCOUNT given. I have the quote sheet right here in front of me. All they promised was that they would "keep it to a mininum" I signed my life away on a quote of 1976.00 - 2500.00. Of course the bill was at the top end! It was for oxygen and antibiotics and xrays and "dr's reports! Here is the irony.$550 had already been donated directly to the vet from caring neighbors. I had another $283 at home and money was still coming in. When Mr. Cummings went to get Gemini, the animal hospital had NO regard to the fact that I had sent out flyers (the hospital knew) and they did not offer to let Gemini go home...Knowing full well that I was taking responsibility! No Bill should have been given to Mr. Cummings..the animal hospital had my number but did not call me! As of this morning, money is still coming in...but the checks are being made to Rick Cummings, not Animal Emergency. Yes, we are all disappointed in their "charitable" actions. Just so grateful Gemini is okay. What a sweet and loving Pup....

Bad publicity for the Animal Emergency hospital.
Its good to hear the community is rallying to help this poor family. My prayers are with them.

Why can't something like this happen to George W. Binladen or The Dick (Cheney)? Would love to see them out in the streets, their worthless family starving and shivering in the cold, and all their belongings destroyed. Would love to hear the American public just say "So?" as they cry out for help and assistance. God is extremely screwed up to do this to such a nice deserving family and let terrorists live lavishly in good health. It's sickening.

I understand the vet has to make a living, but honestly it would have been better for business, as well as their Karma to do some comp work on this case. I'm truly disappointed, because I know there are vets out there who would have comped all the service charges in an extraordinary case like this was.

Human doctors don't work for free. In this case, yes, there should have been some consideration but give the vets a break, they can't take everyone's animal who can't pay.
