I just read the report for Compton. It is not correct. They did not report how much the council members & mayor get for sitting on 5 additional commissions.

Wait a minute? Why didn't El Segundo submit any information? I guess the Gundo blogger is right! Captain Turbull "only" made $225K? What the???? He makes more than most of the Police Chiefs in the county, so we can only imagine what their Chief makes? And that City is 8 million in the hole? What is going on? Gundo blogger! Keep it up! There is something fishy in El Segundo...

It is a foolish decision by the state, counties or cities to fail or refuse to post employee salary schedules.

The citizens have a right to know actual employee costs... AND, not posting the information just encourages those with an axe to grind. They can throw outlandish numbers around and there's nothing other than common sense to dispute their claims.

I'm retired from the Long Beach Police Department and would've had no qualms about having my salary being made public... doing so would've easily put to rest these bogus claims of my having made $200,000+ per year.

According to Chiang's office, 83 percent of California cities and counties complied with the requirements imposed in August to submit the data. Cities and counties that fail to provide the information could face a $5,000 penalty.

Cities failing to file salary and compensation reports:

Long Beach

I don't want to know. I already know it is upsetting. I know they sure know how to take care of themselves. If you've ever heard the saying the fox watching the hen coup, well, that's the best example you'll ever see. A darn shame is what it is.

Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, that's 15K less that will be spent on the east side of Long Beach. What a mor.on.

OMG, Govt. employees with college educations are paid more then Walmart greeters?!!? HORRORS.

Again people, its not the salaries, it's the 5 people earning 90K a year to do the job that two people could do that is the problem. And no one in middle management is going to talk about that as they have seen politicians come and go, Dept. General Managers come and go, and they have no incentive to run Departments efficiently. If they have never been held accountable, why should they start now?

So some corrupt officials swindle taxpayers and the solution is to post the salaries of ALL government employees statewide?

Alright!

Of course, the Contra Costa Times (or some other paper from the North) is already doing this.

Hmmmm transparency was the buzz word last year with Garcia wanting the calendars put on line. Forget the calendars Garcia, get the City to fill out the data base questionnaire in a timely fashion. What a joke, they can't even supply a timely submission of information to the state.

Spike [Post #16], my complaint is that once again, Long Beach fails to comply. They could care less that this impacts the budget and "takes away money from the east, west, north or south sides of town.

We have enough bureaucrats that they could have found one person to take care of this.

Since all you can do is name call, and whine, you obviously have nothing to ad to this thread. Go back to bed Spikey!

Wow, San Jose salaries are way up there. I need a government job. It's too bad Meg threw away most of her money instead of creating jobs with it. $160 million could have created who knows how many jobs.
