You mean it has taken more than an hour to catch the perpetrator. Really now, turn the job over to Mac Gruff the crime dog for some results.

A simple announcement at school or a take-home note pinned to the shirt should do it. Make the reward free cafeteria lunch fo a week.

It was Juanita Beresford-Redman...but it's okay. Members of the Beresford-Redman family are entitled.

All Torrance schools should have an officer present at drop off and pick up times. They could make a mint on parking tickets, illegal u-turns, driving while distracted, parking in the red zone, and so many more violations! My son attended Arnold Elem. for 5 years, in that time I saw horrible parking issues, and violations on a daily basis. Someone should definately open a school just to teach people how to paralell park, they'd make a mint. It is horrible that a parent, or other so called responsible adult would do this to that poor child. Everyone should be checking their neighbors cars. Find that idiot and prosecute to the full extent of the law. Stupidity should be punished. I hope this boy has a speedy recovery!

Seriously...how difficult is this to solve? Hit and run is no joke. I hope the driver goes to jail.

How can these accidents happen and no one see. How can the drivers who hit pedestrians run off as though it was an animal that they hit. When these people are caught and they will be caught, they should make it a minimum of ten years behind bars.
Yes I agree and my thoughts exactly... someone had to see something! I truly believe she will be an easy catch!

I'm guessing the nanny drops of the kids and this one was probably an illegal alien who didn't want to get caught and deported back. It will be solved soon.

I'm very disappointed to see the comments from local parents that were here yesterday gone today. If they were incorrect, I can understand but where they?

I always see these soccer moms in their big SUV, yakking on the cell with a carload of kids in the back. What a great example these moms are setting for this kids breaking the cell law.
These moms have the "it's all about me" attitude with their big muscle SUV. I know they chase this driver and make an example of her.

Apparently someone couldn't pass the police entrance tests! Look Starsky, it is apparent that you have a major chip on your shoulder but are you really this stupid? You sound like the typical moron who thinks the police can be everywhere all the time! And making a personal attack on someone in a blog by using their name and not yours is simply cowardly. Listen, there is no one else to blame for that security job you have, so stop lashing out at those who actually do the job. If you knew anything about the American police structure, the police often depend on assistance from the public in helping to solve crimes, or provide tips that lead to solving crimes. Now stop being a total idiot and go check on the food court, no doubt you have some major action occurring there now!!!!
ur lame!

I feel horrible for this child and his family, but I am more upset by all of the Mom bashing that is going on!!! Really you want to put down a group of women who are trying to take care of everything and everyone and make sure that they are doing all that the world is demandning them to do and because they drive SUV's!!! Let's just take a minute and realize how hard they are really working and then call your Mother's and tell them that you are sorry for acting like this!!! Let's focus on the issue school safty.

When I was young kids had feet and used them to get to school. Now most parents drive their kids even a block or two. WHY?

And everyone says San Pedro is bad. Crime happens everywhere, people. Just because a certain neighbor hood holds a good rep doesn't mean the people do.

It's apparent you're racist against Koreans...figures, dumb ___! I find this amazing, A child is injured by a hit and run driver who happened to be female. Several posters have correctly critisized the poor driving skills and lack of attention paid by many mothers dropping off and picking up their children at school. And soccer mom is more "upset" by her perception of "mom bashing".This is really an example of how degraded our sense of values are today.

Former Hyundai executive gets 9 years in DUI death
December 07, 2009|By LARRY WELBORN
SANTA ANA - A former Hyundai Motor America executive who fled to South Korean a day after he caused an alcohol-related hit-and-run crash that killed a Fountain Valley motorcyclist was sentenced to nine years in prison today.

Youn Bum Lee, 42, pleaded guilty in November to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated with a sentencing enhancement for fleeing the scene of a crime for the early morning crash on Oct. 19, 2005, on the 55 freeway in Santa Ana that killed motorcyclist Ryan Dallas Cook, 23.

Lee sat with his head down in a courtroom holding cell as several of Cook's relatives and friends told Superior Court Judge Richard M. King how his death had impacted their lives.

Janet Cook, Ryan's mother, held a photo of her son and told Lee, "You can't imagine the pain that you put my family through."

Thank you for posting this. I have been wondering what happened to the jerk who killed this young musician. I also wonder if any of the Hyundai execs, who hustled him to the airport for a quick departure, were ever punished - or better - expelled from the U.S.? As I work in the music business, I shared this story far-and-wide. It may be a knee-jerk reaction, but, I will never, ever own a Hyundai product because of this.
