Should have known one of Walker's cronies would slither out from under his rock. The simple answer from Torrance to this monstrosity is NO NO and heck NO! And if this ends up anywhere near that size, Torrance WILL dump Scotto just like Walker.

Every day brings another huge development proposal in Torrance that the fools in city hall downplay.

You have to be kidding me. This is the stupidest idea ever. Just what Torrance needs, thousands of seniors... living right next to the revitalized portion of the mall... in 2 gigantic towers.

Why not put something of use there?

Torrance must be crazy. The Del Amo Fashion Center has turned ghetto and now Torrance wants to built a senior citizen housing for both aged and AL patients? Another question, will this housing become ghetto themed as well ? Another reason why it's time to get out of this city.

"It would generate an estimated 1,373 vehicle trips daily, according to a completed traffic analysis."

Because, ya know, we don't ALREADY have traffic congestion problems in that area...

How about yall downsize it to something REASONABLE?

With the proposed senior housing and the mall going ghetto, doesn't it cross anyone's mind that it would be another target for crime -- robbing and threatening seniors. It would make more sense for the mall's survivalto have residents that will shop at the mall. Seniors don't spend money.

OK, here we go with the same old cry of, "it must be Dan Walker's fault!" It is amazing how Dan is given credit for everything that has been built in Torrance, every traffic jam, every political donation, blah, blah, BLAH. Get a life people. You have a Mayor and 6 other elected officials. If you want to blame somebody blame yourselves for voting these people in, the appointments they make, and yourselves for sitting home complaining on election day. Looks to me like you weren't careful about what you wished for, again...

Walker was an idiot.

Yeah, this make sense. Torrance has the abandoned Sunrise Assisted Living Facility site growing weeds on Hawthorne and now another sleezy developer wants to build a facility at another place in Torrance.

The seniors of today helped to make the South Bay what it is today. Yet, that fact seems to escape the stingy minds of the ney sayers regarding the building of the senior buildings.

What is the mind set of an individual who hates the thought of helping to provide housing for our elderly who were for the most part a resident of the South Bay way way before most of the rest of us.

These ney sayers remind me of the old Eskimo tradition of placing an elderly person on a block of ice where they would freeze to death as they were no longer a productive member of society therefore preventing them from having to care for them.

I can't wait for the time to come when these thoughtless and num minded ney sayers are elderly and in need of a different kind of consideration for themselves than what they are used to be needing. I guess that then the shoe will be on the other foot, and how I will laugh.

Not this sh*t again! Time again to let our voices be heard.

On the matter of Del Amo being all ghetto....where do the people of Torrance shop, if not at the mall?

Senior housing might not be thhat bad. Seniors won't add to the local school population, while still paying taxes. Seniors will also add to traffic, but usually not at rush hour times. Seniors are generally peaceful and quiet.
The alternative could be worse. Face it. Eventually something will be built on that site. Better to have some senior housing than the possible alternatives- just regular condos with people with kids adding to the overcrowded schools or some type of commercial retail.

To answer your question, people shop the Camarillo outlets. I was there a few weeks ago. Two women in line were talking about the woman in the last store they were in. She was from Palos Verdes. I turned and asked them where they were from. Their answer was Manhattan Beach. I live in Torrance. We all agreed Del Amo has really gone downhill.

Scotto and the council will NEVER approve this, even if Dickie Brownnose and the Planning Commission do.

We should put in something that actually adds to our city. Hotel, convention center... something that will bring in more revenue. It would be perfect right next to the mall, visitors would spend their money in our city and help pay for more services, more cops, more firefighters... everything we need.

More residents wont help anything, especially broke seniors who wont spend any money except at the coffee shops for 3PM dinner.

We need to add to our city... more dense housing will never pass with this council, no matter what story Nick Green is trying to tell.

Looks like Pat Furey and his loser 30 year old son who still lives at home is at it again. Slam anyone who might threaten the cronies on the city council. Some things will never change.

Loser... so funny.

An old man who sits behind his computer screen attacking people anonymously is not a loser... cry me a river old guy. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahaa

Soooooo funny. I love when your true colors shine through. We all know who you are anonymous. I love the fact that you basically admit that its Dickie Brownnose doing all the trashing of the council on here. So classic.

I love your mandals.
