And the unions keep crying because they cannot get their money grabbing paws around Walmart and for not other reason. The unions need to wither and die blood sucking vermin!

"But it's new income for the city" said an alert reader. "More money for the administrators."

Are these "ghetto rats" comments not so thinly veiled racism?
I believe we can do better than that. Neither Wallmart nor racism is good for our community.

I can't wait to get the latest email full of pictures making fun of all the ghetto trash that shops at the Compton WalMart.

Walmart would be a finishing touch to the declining Del Amo mall. The mall has gone ghetto and locals don't much shop there anymore. Just take a look at the bus stops and you will get a fair idea on who shops there now. Torrance is changing fast , just take a look around you when you're out in the city, it's not a good thing and the TPD hides their crime records.

All of you people posting on this make me sick. I live in Palos Verdes and I'm not ashamed to say I love Walmart! There is nothing wrong with it, and it does not automatically make an area ghetto. You can get everything you need, for cheaper! Get over yourselves.

Torrance is a clean city.
I think walmart will darken it, dirty it etc.
Really..........
What ever happen to "we dont like you're kind around here"

Torrance council must not live in torrance to understand the damage that its going to bring. Example: Walmart employees will want to have their kids to go to a good school in torrance just because they can or demand or want, want, want
We residents in torrance dont need more racial problems period.

Please don't let walmart come to Torrance! its bad enough that we have to deal with the traffic on Hawthrone, I get out of work @ 3:30 going 2.5 mile takes me sometimes 20 to 30 min.
When I work 40 miles away I was home in 20 min. You put a Walmart on Hawthrone its going to take me 40 min to get home! Walmart is not good for Torrance
it's about time we get a wal mart here i think it's GREAT!!!

South Bay is going down the drain, just like California. Nobody in this state cares anymore about what happens to our community. This is what happens when you get a large number of immigrants coming to this country who doesn't respect our laws or care about assimilating into our society!!!
Omg! Gtfooh!!!! It's funny how "immigrants" come up in every topic. All the "immigrants" I know, work very hard for their money! Bottom line is, white ppl don't want blacks or Mexicans in Torrance!!!!

Sad for Torrance, Walmart is coming right into the center of the city. What were the city council thinking. People are moving out of Torrance to the hills (Palos Verdes) if they can afford to stay in the area and others are just leaving the state. The last of the aerospace people are finally retiring and moving out of the area/state.
Been to the Walmart on 190th when it first opening and I didn't feel comfortable or safe, that's what Torrance has to look forward to. If you think Del Amo mall is bad, it's going to get worst and it all fora the sake of taxes for the city....sad.
Torrance is one of the last nice cities in southern California -- no more.

Many of my Torrance friends are moving "up the hill" or they're moving to Orange County. Seems a flight out of Torrance is occurring. I myself will be taking off to Nevada next year.

Grew up in Torrance, nice town until the Del Amo mall went ghetto. Now Walmart coming into town, bad news Torrance. House prices are going to drop and schools are going to suffer.

this society is made of inmigrants, or are you a native indian? and it is you who should be adjusting to the "large number of inmigrants" because believe me "they are coming", and if you don't like inmigrants go to the montana and live alone, you are a shame to this country.

That is horrible! Wal Mart should not be in the 90505. If it's too small of a space they should just choose a more appropriate location that could handle the traffic and parking such as: The Galleria (Expo Store). They need to be in the 90504/90278!
YEA RIGHT!! YOU 90505ERS GO DOWN AND SHOP AT THE 99cent STORE AND WALMART ALL THE TIME YET YOU DON'T WANT IT IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. TRUST ME IT WONT TAKE LONG BEFORE ALL THESE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ARE ALL SHOPPING AT WALMART!!!!!!!!!

I will never shop at Walmart. It is bringing undesirable people to the City of Torrance.
We have a nice little community. Why was this allowed to happen?
