Not to take anything away from the firefighters at all - but I heard it was a lifeguard who got to her first. Thank goodness for all of the rescue workers.

Hope she gets the mental help she needs. Wonder how old she was?

no it wasn't. it was a firefighter/paramedic from la county fire from the air squad. she was in the middle of the cliff 150 ft. down no way a lifeguard could have gotten to her first

The Ocean Lifeguards who would have been involved in this rescue are a part of the County Fire Department. Although they are not firefighters, they are a division within the Department and was switched to the Fire Department from the Beaches and Harbors in the early to mid 90's.

Actually I was there - and it WAS a Torrance/Redondo Lifeguard Captain who scaled down the cliff with permission from the Battalion Chief and got to the victim 1st. Heard he was a local surfer/diver so he knows the area very well.

Why all the back and forth bickering? What matters is that the woman was saved!!!

Hey Larry, how about doing a follow up on this story? There's more to it you know - instead of wasting your time on a Lawndale hit & run where NOBODY WAS INJURED OR KILLED ?
