I played flute at Costa for a couple years when Mr. Adams first started there. He was amazing. I am so sad to hear of his much, much too early passing. He really will be missed. More than words can say.

i wish i could have been at the memorial
because of MR A i went from troubled youth to Navy veteran
he motivated even the toughest students
because of MR A i learned 7 instruments from wood wind to brass to percusion
he pushed and pushed for drum line which i thought was dumb but he saw potential when i learned and mastered trombone in a week from only playing flute
i was always second chair in the trombone section because it was more fun than first

Mr A was and inspiration for me to join the military and better my life

the last time i saw him i was in uniform after being transfered to sandiego
ill always remember what he taught me about team work leadership and all out using my head instead of my fists lol

Youll be missed Mr A

Mr. A was a great teacher, mentor and friend. He left us too soon and will be missed the rest of our lives. I will think of him often as all of his students will.

Al was a friend and a comforting sight for sore eyes and ears whenever we got together. He exuded charisma and was first class, through and through. Though I never knew him as a teacher and never saw him play, I imagine he was pretty amazing. I will miss him tremendously.

I just heard of Mr. Adams passing. He was the single most inspirational teacher in my life as well as so many others. Does anyone have contact information of where to send some flowers or a card?

There is a man who filled thousands of students over the years with inspiration, and aspirations of becomeing better musicians and individuals. As he would say "Practice Makes Perfect" He will never be forgotton!

I just want to say that Al Adams was gold to this world. He taught me to love music and I mean LOVE music. Al Adams felt every note, cry, and laugh.
I first met Al Adams when I was in 5th grade. He picked me out of a few kids at Pennekamp in Manhattan Beach CA.
So on my way to MBI (96-97) I got to know the man who would set the stage for my life. Some days I'd come into class unprepared, some days I'd come prepared, he'd always tell me what was wrong. I know I wasn't always the best but he would tell me what I needed to work on.
He wouldn't tell you what you were doing wrong, he would work on it with you. If you asked Mr. Adams for help with your instrument, he'd be there. If you asked Mr. Adams which instrument he plays he'd say the clarinet. If you asked Mr. Adams where we were going after a show he'd say Mac Donalds
To you Alfred Adams
-Thank you
