I want to commend the governor for this step. I do wish to point out that there is another problem which may not have been considered, and is the problem that I have, which is that the employer is negligent in sending in the money and when they do it is sporatic at best.
My ex is a very dedicated employee, he sometimes works 7 days a week, however looking at the way my children receive their money is unbeleivable. Two weeks go by some time and they receive nothing, then they will get 2 payments or the employer just skips it altogether. Since there is no one who can audit the child support account, I do the best I can but as a single income family, meeting the bills comes first and so my children suffer by not being able to go to the pool, have cell phones, catch a matenee with their friends, take part in the recreation sports (fees to play are alot of money)and other luxuries that most people take for granted. When the government provides a bureau whose sole responsibility is to enforce the rules and regulations and do occasional audits on the employers then I will be happy. Until then expecting an over worked and underpaid SRS to do the policing is an unrealistic expectation. Thank you for allowing me to provide my input. Malia Rich 1707 Julie Garden City, KS 67846 |

I agree they need to enforce the law better. I have a friend who has a deadbeat mom who was ordered to pay child support. For 7 years he has not seen dime from her! She had never been forced to pay or go too jail form not paying! If it was a man they courts would not hesitate to throw him in jail for not paying child support! One of his kids that he has full custody of decided to live with his mom and she had the nerve to ask for child support from him!! The sad thing about it is they were scheduled to go back to court and find out why she wasn’t paying. She was ordered by the judge to pay and what did the SRS payment center do? Started to take money from his check!! All they seen was the last name and assumed that the male was to pay without making sure first! Talk about getting screwed by the system!!
On the other hand the court system needs reality check and not take the ordered spouse to the cleaners. For example I had another friend who was ordered to pay and after the child support came out he was left with $100 a week from his check! Kind of makes it hard to have a place too live and eat! I believe that 50% of the money that is awarded for the kids must be put into a banking account in the Childs name and can only be accessed by the named child and can't be touched until they turn 18 years of age! Kudos to all of those fathers who are tiring to make things work with there kids even though you are getting screwed by greedy mom's who are too lazy to help support their kid's. I am amazed at how quickly people use the kid's as bargaining chip for money! Even when there is no need for the BS in the first place! GROW UP people you are the adults and it is BOTH of your responsibility to take care of the kids and not the courts place to decide their fate because you both are being hard headed! |

Amen to the father's getting screwed by the system- my ex cheated on me, got knocked up and had an abortion WHILE STILL MARRIED to me. I tried to make our marriage work for over a year, while she was doing drugs and talking to guys all over town. I looked like a chump, but my kids respected me. Now the ex looks like a money tree because I've done more than necessary for years- now she's getting more support, thanks to our fine state's support guidelines. I'm looking at bankruptcy because the court says my first obligation is Child support, even though the ex has a live-in cheater now and tries to raise the kids to be selfish brats. Thanks, KANSAS-

This story has two or more sides. As a counselor for some years, I have seen many dads cheated similarly as mentioned in previous posts. Nevertheless, the law should be enforced.
Much of the problem is judges who legislate from the bench, regardless of what the law says, and lays it on the men they don't like. If the law were followed strictly, men would have a better feeling for the decisions of the courts. My daughter is a family lawyers and has begun to take up more men as clients to try to even the system. She has had a lot of luck digging up the real story of deadbeat wives. |

I’m with the guy that recommends accountability in how the money is spent. I see it all the time. I don’t have to pay child support but sympathize with those paying for the spouse that uses the money for other things, not the children. There is no accountability and no requirement that they spend the money on the children. In many cases this is the case; it’s another source of income. Seen it more time than not!

Yes, I have also seen that many times. Thanks for the post. I said in a previous post that my daughter is a family law attorney, and she digs out the law and reads it in court, instead of 'how the poor spouse deserves' the money. She also asks the judge for an accounting. Most judges respect her and she wins about 80% of her cases. |

I don't know about the rest of Kansas but the officials from SG county are both criminal & wrongful under the color of law. I saw many years of criminal conduct from these filthy officials and in the end a 105 page filing broke the corruption of these crooked lawyer types!

Most of the corruption by our elected and appointed officials would come to a screeching halt if we had term limits for everyone from dogcatcher to president, including judges. All oversight committees should be limited to non-elected citizens with the power to bring up recall charges to the voters. Suggested term limits at one term of six years or two terms at 8 years. |
