Does anyone care enough to bother picketing his funeral?

Now, if you make it a big lgbt celebration at his funeral, then ok.

It's funny ... I always thought I'd get some sense of pleasure - or at least satisfaction - when Phelps' health started to decline, but I don't feel anything at all beyond a vague sense of benign pity.

He's wasted his whole life hating and trying to hurt other people. And now that life is almost over. He created his own hell and plunged his whole family into it ... that's the ultimate punishment.

I was reading up on this in the New York Times website earlier this morning. Fred Phelps had been excommunicated from Westboro Church in August of 2013. They were sketchy on why, for I don't think anyone is quite aware of it, outside their pit of vipers. Methinks he may have had a brief moment of clarity when he realized he was at the end of his miserable life and thought maybe it was time to reflect on the pain and hurt his actions have brought onto many others over the years.

I wonder if that gargoyle of a daughter can hold the morons together without Fred? At least he had some creepy charisma. She is as charismatic as a cobra, but not as pretty. Someone ought to get girlfriend to a DECENT hair salon, with a GAY hairdresser, and let her know that that vile overly gelled mess is NOT attractive, at all, nor is it hiding her obvious thinning hair.

Not really. He had 13 children, fertile old fool wasn't he? Half of them have become estranged from the monster over the years. There's only about 40 of them left, but they lose a couple a year who dare to ask questions or take umbrage of the hate preached. I'm hoping like any evil, they have a short half life.

They'll probably hold it in secret for they won't risk being treated the way they do to others.

Very interesting news about Phelps being excommunicated. His sons added that after he was voted out, he was moved from the second story of the church where he had been living, and into a house where he could be watched so that he "wouldn't hurt himself." Phelps then supposed stopped eating and drinking.

Whatever the facts may be, it's apparent that the Phelps family and the WBC are in turmoil. As I alluded earlier, Karma can be a real monster.

Concerning Shirley Phelps Roper, her outside appearance is simply a reflection of her inner being. That's what hate can do to a person.

Apropos of nothing, did you know that Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat, and that Nancy was pregnant with their daughter Patti before they got married?

And did you know that the word "believe" is misspelled in your Topix motto?

I agree. Good post.

Perhaps Anita Bryant will give him a send off at his funeral.

Yes, I knew that. He was also a successful attorney who fought FOR the civil rights of black Americans.

I have read over the years that even in small intimate settings with friends and family, that he would often exhibit what can only be described as sudden manifestations of severe mental illness, or neurological problems Sometimes, outrageous behavior by some people has been demonstrated to be caused by a brain tumor or other physical diseases of the brain.

Very few will mourn his death. Not a legacy anyone should want to leave.......

I read Merv Griffin's biography last year. It was pretty lurid, accusing him of bedding ANYONE he could get his hands in Hollywood. My FAVORITE part was the fact that Nancy Davis..the former first Lady Mrs. Reagan was WELL known and valued all over Hollywood as the BEST at giving head (allegedly, she sure was NOT getting a-HEAD by her acting! All you need do is watch "Donovan's Brain" where she and Lew Ayres fight a flying huge brain with eyes that they kill with an ax to see why she had to rely on her mouth for movie roles).

No WONDER Ron loved her so much!

From what I have read over the years, he exhibited signs of mental illness or neurological problems which may explain is abhorrent behavior. I'm not excusing him. Just giving a possible reason.
