This is a requirement of State Law to publish these "check-writes". What the Pahrump Valley Times article DOESN'T tell you, is, this state law is endorsed and supported by the newspaper industry. Even though it could be accomplished (published) much easier (AND CHEAPER) through the County websites, the PVTimes makes $18,000 yearly to print ours. Add all the other counties and the required publications and it's pretty good money. Overturning the law is brought up in the legislature most years and defeated every year by newspaper interests (lobbying).
