Hi there I am looking for some history and have hit a wall :( I have found info on how Wittmann was once named Nadaburg. But then by mutual agreement, the town's name was officially changed to Wittmann, to honor Joseph VanBeuren Wittmann. Though there was talk of changing the town's name back to Nadaburg, it was never done. My question is this- "in what month and year was the town of Wittmann given its name?" I know that it all happened during 1929-1949, but I am looking for the specific date that Wittmann actually became Wittmann.... Any help would be much appreciated. I have done all the research I can short of going to the county recorder's office :) Thanks in advanced please email email@example.com

When the explorers were crossing the west, one small group stopped in the desert to take a crap. Soon, other explorers discovered it and stopped there to crap as well. Many years and thousands of craps later, settlers decided to set up camp there. It was a crappy camp and from that huge pile of crap Wittmann was born and continues today to live up to it's historical beginnings.

Not really what I was looking for at all :(
In the 1930s by mutual agreement, the settlement’s name was officially changed from Nadaburg to Wittmann to honor Joseph Wittmann and his promise of irrigation water.
I am just looking for the month and exact year that this change happened. Your answer provided no information at all......

I agree. I love riding my quad, having fun with my family in the desert, not worrying about being harassed by bored cops, having room to have a party or just enjoy the peace, quiet and sunsets. I know the stigma Wittmann has for being nothing but tweakers, but I have met a lot of nice people that aren't tweakers that have lived here for 20+ years, and I honestly have seen just as many bums and tweakers in Surprise if not more. I enjoy my privacy and having the room to do what I want to do but still be able to run into town and back within an hour. Wittmann is not just what I make it, but what all of us make it.

Wittmann started out as nadaburg train station way back when the railroad was built. It was a place for locomotives to stop and fill up with water before or after heading through wickenburg
