I'm tired of hearing about bad things happening in this beautiful town. Wonder why this is happening!??!

This could be a jewel in the shore, but frankly this town is a disgrace. Other than by the waterfront home owners have little pride. The boarded up main street is a dump and positively scares away tourists. It's a shame, but the town needs to wake up, promote and enforce, or fall head first into the dump it is creating.

I agree with Michelle and John. Ocean Gate could be beautiful however look at Point Pleasant and it blows OG away. Sure they are vastly different, OG is quaint and quiet, and could attract a different crowd, but it looks so derilict - the building that is boarded up accross from the Anchor Inn is a pretty sad. The yards in front of most of the homes are overgrown and both trashcans and decrepit boats are standard fare. This is a town that the administration have given up on.

I agree with the other posters. I was here July 4th and had a wonderful time with my friends. It was good old time fun and the whole area pulled together. The problem is the houses by the beach are beautiful and well kept, the rest of town is real redneck and looks like its abandoned. Its dirty with weeds, rubbish and looks like a lot of unemployed walking the streets, smoking and openly drinking. Definately a big turnoff.

This town is awesome by the beach. Was there last Saturday and there were three guys singing and playing on the beach - they were fantastic!!~ The main town is pretty rundown and kind of dumpy, but as everyone else said, very nice by the beach. Guess the recession came and the money and pride left this place.

I agree with all the above. I bought a place by the beach a few years ago but ended up selling this year. The town is a disgrace. It is filthy and there is ZERO enforcement. Nothing is being done to clean this place up or promote it. It is an embarrassment. I sold at a loss in order to get out before it is completely in the toilet. Acrying shame where most residents don't care and the administration are asleep.

I can pretty much guess what part of town they lived in? Go back 4 or 5 years and look at what trash is living here now!
The Mayor or someone better step in before there is nothing left here but undesirables and junkies.
Excuse the bluntness!
