If you're looking for a more vinegar based sauce on your BBQ, check out Backyard BBQ (I believe that's still the name.) Francis's has great meat, but their sauce leaves something to be desired for anyone looking for a really spicy kick. Anita's isn't bad either, though the hours suck for anyone wanting food at night.

If your coming through Gamaliel then give Chicken Wangs a try.

Backyard BBQ is awesome, and you get plenty to eat for the price, or even get the family feast so you can enjoy it the next day, i think the plates are 5.00 or 5.50,enough for 2 people, but the feast is around 18.00 but you get more than enough. They give good sized helpings on their plates and their burgers are bigger than the buns.Thats the only place I get BBQ anymore.

The two most original bbq's that are the mouth watering best and are still refered to as Monroe Co. style are none other than Anita's and Backyard. I will have to say that Anita's style of ribs have never been matched, and I know they never will. As far as both of these two are concerned, they have a wide selection, and everything in the selections are the best to be found anywhere! These are two places to eat in Monroe Co. that makes the county a special place. Good day!

Hass Evans had the first BBQ in Tompkinsville I've been told. And there is only one place around here that has that recipe and that would be Chicken Wangs in Gamaliel. Hass and Billy Bartley were good friends, and before Hass died, he gave him his recipe. And thats the recipe Tony is using.

You can try the rest, but if you want the best there is only one place BackYard BBQ. I like all the other BBQ's dont get me wrong, but I always go back to the BEST Backyard BBQ. And the people who wait on you are the best anywhere. C&C

Anyone who can look you in the eye and say Francis BBQ is the best has never tasted real bbq, their steamed down washed out meat isn't worth serving. I would have to say that anyone who says this has never been within 10 feet of a grill in their life. R&S(Anita's)is the best by far- you get your meat right off the grill and if Tommy is cookin' it's hard to quit eatin. Terry does pretty good (behind Save-a-Lot)and that would be my second choice.

I like Backyard BBQ but everyone has their own preferences. Btw, where is R&S BBQ located at? I've never tried theirs.

francis's is to high and its nothing like it was 15 or 20 years ago the sauce has changed and i think they use gas know and you can eat at a steakhouse for what you have to pay to eat there. terry's is really good wish she was open on the weekend backyard is ok definatley better than francis's crossroads is really good its right on down the road past bugtussle.

Hass used to cook at parties at my great grandpa's place in Vernon, and he also gave the recipe to him. It has been passed down through the family and I use it all the time.
