Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was invited to speak at the United Nations in October 2005. At the conclusion of his discourse, he called upon Allah to quickly usher in the re-emergence of the “Twelfth” or “Hidden Imam,” sometimes referred to as the “Mahdi.”
The fanatical leader later claimed that while he spoke to that august body, he was surrounded by a halo of light. Mr. Ahmadinejad regaled a local ayatollah with the story of how “The leaders of the world” stared at him during the time he spoke. He further claimed that they were unable to blink or turn away, as though some unseen force held them in a trance-like state.“When I say they didn’t bat an eyelid, I’m not exaggerating, because I was looking at them,” intoned Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad is a Shia Muslim. Many of them believe that the Twelfth Imam, or Mahdi, the last in a line of saints descended from Ali, the founder of their sect, vanished down a well near Jamkaran, Iran, in A.D. 941. According to their beliefs, he went into a state of “occultation,” like the sun being hidden behind the clouds; and, after a stormy period of apocalyptic wars, the clouds will part, and the “sun”(the Mahdi) will be revealed. They believe that when he is released from his imprisonment, the entire world will submit to Islam.

I agree with you TOFY on the stimulus and we need a big one. Another $2 Trillion would be a good start and then check back in a next year to see if we need another one. That way when Obama's second term is up we will have alot to show for all of his hard work.

<quoted text>Unless your one of the 4million who are expected not to buy insurance, you have no complaint...because this does affect you in the least bit.
No-ONE GOES TO JAIL...Their premium will be collected through their tax refund. Period.
BTW Insurance companies are licking their chops just waiting on the extra revenue!
This is a windfall for them sweetie! Or they'd be marching on the capital! 5 extra billion never hurt anyone!
So you practice the Nancy Pelosi creative lying numbers method, I see. lol What does that number become when the employers opt to give the government fine money rather than provide insurance for their employees? All those millions will be looking for single pay insurance and many will get government help (subsidized payments from the government)and somebody has to pay for them since Obama's poverty list just keeps growing and growing which means people who actually work and pay for their own insurance that is no longer being offered by their employer...will foot the bill. Where's the reform in that, Obama? And of course the insurance companies are loving Obamacare, snookums! That's evident by all of our premiums and deductibles going through the roof just in anticipation of Obamacare kicking in! They get to charge 50% higher premiums for all the newbies with pre-existing conditions. They get a shitload of new business sent their way. Obama already promised the Pharmaceutical companies that they will retain their huge profit margins with Obamacare. Where's the reform in that, Obama?

The only thing Obamacare will do is screw the middle class working population. Again. The government wanted their cut and they got it. They will be raking in the dough with corporation fines rolling in annually. All the people who find themselves without insurance (because of the loopholes Obama set up for the greedy corporations/businesses) will now have to purchase insurance because it is the law. They can't shop around because there were no provisions or loopholes put in Obamacare for the middle class that will foot the bill. Obama will then put the public option back in and those people will send more big bucks into the government, sweetie. Then we will have politicians and lawyers deciding if healthcare procedures are feasible within their budget set forth by the government. Our healthcare will be rationed just like those crazy ass republicans predicted. So they weren't that far off when they talked about death panels now were they, sweetie pie?

Obamacare is a scam. You know it. I know it. The democrats knew it and still know it but will never admit it as we can see from Pelosi and Obama's latest campaign tactics. Obama's greatest legacy is turning out to be his downfall, isn't it? lol Damn, sweetie, that well deserved karma colonic is starting to bubble up and work it's magic, huh? Lovin' every minute of it!

We will be a third world country if Obama gets a second term so there will be no need for a stimulus of any kind. We will all be equally poverty stricken and Obama and his Hollywood crew will throw us a bone every now and again to keep us humble and thankful for saving us from doom and gloom. LMMFAO! Is it really that effing hard for you people to see that his policies didn't help and they actually damaged our country? Time to cut our losses, regroup and try something (someone) new and that's what we are gonna do! America will be trading up in November! Four years of failed policies and lies and bribing and deceiving and bullying and cheating and personal agendas...just how many more years of that crap do you think Obama needs to finally accomplish some good? It's very simple. Instead of the top 1% you expand that to the top 40% of income earners. The remaining 60% get either totally free or mostly free depending on how close to the cutoff they are. The top 40% pay for the other 60% that gets free stuff. As long as the 60% always vote democrat then the plan works and the top 40% can't do anything about it.
My initial assessment of your message was that it was the musings of a provocateur. Was I wrong?

In case other people don’t get it, I personally believe that all of us who are able need to contribute to programs that benefit us all as a society and can find no justification for 60% of us exploiting the wealthiest 40% according to some unconscionable voting scam.

Our illustrious food stamp program is proving nourishment for the "needy" <cough> <cough> For every dollar allocated for food stamps, just over 18 CENTS is what actually ends up in the pockets of the "needy".
There are similar problems with the other welfare programs. The hallmark of government programs is the abuse, inefficiency and corruption of the systems.
Go spend a few days routing through the bureaucracy of the VA hospital system and then tell me how you want government running our health care system.
If they can't do social security or food stamps properly, what makes you think they'll do any better with the far more complex health care system?
You know, before all these government programs, Americans were not starving in the streets or freezing to death in the winter. Charities, churches, families and neighbors took care of each other. Granted, those on charity wouldn't be as comfortable today, I doubt others would pay for them to have x-box's, premium cable tv, and a fridge fool of beer.
<quoted text>
Umm...we can't. If we raised the top marginal tax rate on the "rich" (those making over $180,000 a year) it would have to be 88% to raise just 400 billion! Leaving 1.1 TRILLION left to cover.
There is NO WAY to pay for what we're doing now, let alone the new expenses incurred with Obamacare, or God forbid, actual national health care.
<quoted text>
Well, socialism IS what it we're doing...so ya, makes sense to call it what it is...how well has socialism worked out for everyone else again?
<quoted text>
Nothing has improved the quality of life for the most people-things like health care access, food, housing, etc than capitalism.
Single payer health care, expansion of medicare, will do nothing to assure these benefits for anyone; rising costs, rationing a.k.a. Death Panels are what's on the very near horizon for American health care.
<quoted text>
Well, at least you realize that there really is no such thing as a free lunch. But socialism only works till you run out of other peoples money. And since half of American's are not paying any income taxes, and we have the largest percentage of our working population not working, there IS NO MONEY.
What we need to do is reduce government regulation, reign in the ridiculous EPA, reduce taxes, repeal Obamacare and allow capitalism to actually exists and the free market to provide jobs, to CREATE wealth for Americans so that they can buy their own food, own houses, own health care and improve their life.
I recommend that you see a professional about your cough problem. It sounds like it may be more serious than you think.

Enhancing capitalism with socialistic programs, or compassionate capitalism, does not ultimately result in a nation’s economic ruin. That could happen with extreme implementations of either economic system, as vulture capitalism almost led to our economic demise and as Soviet communism ultimately led to the downfall of the USSR. There’s a lot to be said for cool-headed moderation.

I heard an interesting news report today. For starters the oh-so- beloved IRS is hiring 800 new IRS agents to start collecting a tax that our president, Barack Obama, and his right hand man, Nancy Pelosi, has assured us over and over again is not a tax. Pelosi was making the rounds on the news today smiling through each and every lie like she usually does and claiming Obama's record breaking tax he put on the citizens is not a tax. The Supreme Court ruled it is a tax. The majority of citizens believe it to be a tax. The tax collecting agency, the IRS, is gearing up to train new agents to collect the tax...even as our president, Barack Hussein Obama, is assuring us this is not a tax. Damn, what's next from the Obama camp...are they going to tell us water is not wet. Fire is not hot.
I don't blame Obama (or Obama's faithful excuse...Bush) for being a liar. He's a politician and politicians lie like a mofo and obviously Obama has become a great politician in that regard. I blame the idiots who refer to themselves as educated citizens. I wanted to believe they just fell for what this man was saying because they so wanted him to be right. Now it's at a whole new level. They prefer to remain uneducated and uninformed and loyal to the greatest history-making typical politician this country has seen in a long time.
Pay your new taxes that aren't really taxes or pay the greatest political piper in our county's history.
~~~~~~~~~~
Every time Nancy Pelosi opens her mouth I am embarrassed for the Democratic party and I'm not even one of them.
As for the health care bill. If I'm not mistaken,(and I'm sure if I am frank, Spocko and AnnAgain will correct me,) but the way I understood it, it was introduced under the commerce clause. but because it could not pass under the commerce clause, the SC changed the wording to call it a tax, because Congress has the right to taxation. What I'd like to know is where is it in our constitution that when a bill is introduced to any court, if you don't like the way it's worded you can change the wording so that it will pass? This is what they did. This is unconstitutional. So if the SC can change the wording then so can any court of law.
Well then, you haven't heard the latest? When Obama gets in again, we will all be forced to buy electric cars. Go Green, you know? Climate change? You will not have to sell the car you now drive, but when you need a new one you will have to buy an electric car. No wait, you won't be forced to, you can still drive another gas guzzler if you want, but you will have to pay a penalty, or is it a tax?... No wait, it can't be a tax,... or is it?........I don't know, I'm confused.
Why not? A precedent has been set.
Good thing I like broccoli.
