Satellite internet service

Anyone tell me about their dealing with Satellite internet service around Nashville. Where I live DSL is not offered and of course dial up is so slow. Been thinking about trying Satellite internet service, but would like to hear from some one who uses it.

Some areas seems we just don't have hardly any choices.

I have used satellite internet svc. for several years now. It's okay...not great. It's very expensive; I pay $91.00 monthly. Dial-up is a killer. No choices.

I finally went with an Alltel air card, much better than dial up and a bit cheaper that $91.00 per month. I read so much negative stuff on both Hughesnet and Wild Blue.
Which Alltel let me try it for 15 days, if for any reason I did not like it if I returned it by the 15th day they would give my money back.

I love our Hughesnet. It's wayyyy better than dial up and now you can get it for $59.99 a month of course you have the equipment to buy but you can get it cheap on ebay too. It's WELL worth it and I use it several hours a day. The only problem is it doesn't receive well in storms...but who is on the computer in a storm anyway lol. Hope that helps anyone else considering it.

I went with Alltel, got one of their air cards and it works great,$59.99 per month unlimited.

Starting off I paid $137.19 but got $100.00 rebate.

Weather does no seem to affect it.
