Lets go one step better and put microchips in iowans, they need to be watched more than illegal immigrants.

Implant each one caught with a chip and deport them, if they ever become legal, remove the chip. Kind of like branding the slaves of the owners in case they ever ran off. Yep brand em like cattle - microchip em like dogs. GOP your idea of the year we guess! And this guy wants to run for congress? Good luck GOP!

republican or democrat ... this wouldn't be necessary if our federal government worked harder to keep illegals out and make illegals follow the law to become citizens in the first place. No prejudice involved. Just follow the law plain and simple.

I always vote independently for the candidate I think might not screw up things any worse
BUT:

I truly feel sorry for the Republican party if this is what they bring to the plate.

Worse part is some of the nitwits out there will support the idea. Bring it on Tea Cuppers

Wow! I think people need to come here legally, but this is just outrageous. Any one who cares remotely about civil liberties should be appalled at this, because the following steps towards chipping citizens aren't that far from this.

I propose microchipping redneck Iowans if they enter the state of MN. Nothing is more foul than a redneck, other than a cop.

This guy doesn't deserve to be allowed to procreate let alone run for political office. We're doomed. IF this is what a political statesman is in the 21st Century, believe me, we're doomed.

Damn, I need to live in IA! and all of you left wing liberals who think this is so cruel or wrong. Ask someone who is an illegal in Mexico how they liked being raped, everything taken, or better yet killed for coming into Mexico. I say tag them, set up a security net and when they come to the US again, send them right back.

"A Republican congressional candidate" - who else would think up something as rediculous?
"I can microchip my dog so I can find it. Why can't I microchip an illegal?" - Buddy, your dog is a dog, and people are not dogs regardless of what you may think of them.
"such a solution would be much cheaper than building a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border" - yeah - maybe we should microchip members of congress and state governors and the like since they seem to like to fool around a lot. It would be a cheap solution to insert microchips so Americans can be certain that our elected officials are showing up for work when they are supposed t, and going home to their spouse (and staying there) when the day is done.

While somewhat radical this idea is more than the Federal Goverment has come up with for decades.

dunno 'bout that Esteban ... under the guise of homeland security the feds still are pushing a national ID that will be chipped. Then American citizens will be "chipped" and the illegal aliens will not be.

I thought this title was going to be one of those that totally misled you to read the article... guess not!

While it'd be nice... it will NEVER pass. It would cost way too much. Plus, who is going to stop the illegal from ripping out the chip when they get back to Mexico and inserting it in THEIR DOG to make it move around on the grid. Its a little far-fetched... no pun intended.
