Several test concerning this have already been run, including one that states our water flow is up. How many of you have seen the river between Brownwood and Fleetwood Falls lately? The sea weed that generally grows only in lakes because they are "still" has basically taken over - because the water level is so low most of the year. Sure, they can test on a specific day and say it is up...they know when to test. Locals know when the water will be up as well, we also know that the water there is not up as a whole, it is scariliy low! We can no longer get canoes through, kayaks are having a tough time! Now the farmers are being told they will no longer be able to take water from the river.(No farming, no recreation...no harm to Ashe)

If you believe this artice, 99% of the water will come back to the river. 99%? No evaporation, dog watering, pool filling, car washing, lawn watering, vegetable growing, nothing...? Come on!
And if this all does come back, it comes in in one place. How many spots on the river flood now? Well, it won't come in from a hundred streams and springs spread over miles like nature does it, it will be all at one spot. Think that over.

And there is nothing that can combat pharmaceuticals in water treatment right now. They will come back down the river in water Boone claims is cleaner! Do your kids swim in that river like ours?

Boone claimed that they didn't want to damn near Boone or get the water up there because it would destroy their tourism. How about Ashe tourism?

I understand they need water. But, this started in '04 & by '05 they had decided on Brownwood. In their City Council minutes in '05 they state someone will get in touch with Ashe officials. When did they do that? Ashe minutes speak about it for the first time June 2nd, 2008, because they read about it in the paper...no one contacted them!

And in the meantime, Boone passes "liquor by the drink" because they "can't grow as a community without it". How about without water? Why try to grow bigger/better/faster if you have no more water supply and the Federal Government is about to force you to stop all building.

This article states 18 agencies have to test. The last article stated they would wait for tests, then get permits (which could take 2 years), then get a bond ref. on the ballots. None of that has been done, but guess when the bond is up for a vote? Yep, next week! It's OK Boone voters, just trust these guys with your money!

Is there anyone else out there questioning these officials? And we're worrying about the government in Washington? Look a little closer!

Anyone out there interested in giving/ supporting some educational forums at churches or fire departments in Ashe county? Let's find people where they are and give them this vital information!

I'm from Boone, and I agree with you 100%. I don't ever go out to the Todd area, so this really wouldn't effect me, but I realize how it will effect the residents of that area. I encourage you, and everyone else from that area to publicly oppose this.
