Try Outback in Blowing Rock. The pay isn't as bad as other places.

Well, anywhere, but employers don't like the excuse,'Oh, I have this surprise exam, I can't come in because I have to study'. Or 'it's spring break, I'm going to the beach with my friends.' Seen it happen too many times.

Anywhere in Boone pays pretty good imo. And finding a job is easy, but on the other hand, they're more then willing to drop people if school gets in the way of work.

Also, it's best not to even mention your a student and just make an excuse as to 'why you can't work these hours'.

Past employers I worked at would set aside or even go as far as throwing away applications that mentioned they were currently students. Often because 'Well, I've got two students already and don't want any more.' Most employers are pretty bitter toward students and their history of being unreliable... so, I'd advise not even mentioning it.

If you can't get away with lying, make sure your fully available to work weekends at any hours, this alone, even being a student, will increase your chances of getting hired and keeping a job.

Stay away from Vetro Law Firm kids. The hours are good for students but you will be so rattled, shaken and abused to the point you cannot study once out. There are other great places to work. If you work for any law firm, get an attorney who is from the area and not an out of state jerk. Like the state of Florida, their throwbacks of the lowest forms of life give Boone a bad name. The local guys treat kids great too. There are some out there, just beware of the bad. Carry a cross and holy water with you if you do venture into work for the snake dens, don't know how Watauga Med Center is on their supply of anti venum for Cobra bites.

I was in Wells Fargo today in Boone and saw a sign for student employment that stressed flexible schedule and a student loan deal. I can't vouch but it seemed worth checking out!

Michael Vetro's Law Firm is an awful place for an App State student to work.
