It sucks to have Paraco Gas. I just got my bill and they wanted almost $4.00/gallon. I complained and they dropped it by almost 25% without blinking. Talk about gouging! The average price is $2.60! See quote and link below:

The average residential propane price increased by $0.02 per gallon to reach $2.60 per gallon. This was an increase of $0.26 per gallon compared to the $2.34 per gallon average from the same period last year. Wholesale propane prices increased by less than $0.01 per gallon to $1.32 per gallon. This was an increase of $0.03 per gallon when compared to the December 7, 2009 price of $1.28 per gallon.

My old gas co. was bought by Paraco. I just got my first Paraco delivery and, with the lovely "Safety/Ecc" CHARGE OF $7.99 plus tax, they have raised my rates 20%!! Are they kidding?? Heads will roll tomorrow when I call them...

I'm also looking for an alternative to Paraco. My bill just came in and they wanted $7.00/gallon for 17 gallons. Add in the $8 for the ECC and my bill was more than $130! Anything must be better than Paraco.

I work at Paraco. It is an awful place, if the economy were better I and a lot of others would leave. The have elaborate internal ways of treating customers badly.
They are transitioning me into a new position but I'm not hopeful. They're not much better to their middle management let me tell you.

DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT! do business with this awful slimy organization. Several years ago I purchased my own propane tanks. I had them filled by a friend of mine who worked for another propane company. He got a commission for filling my tanks.

He left the company. I called Long Island Bottle gas and asked if they could fill my tanks. They sent a truck, filled the tanks and dropped off a bill. When I needed propane, I would call and they would deliver.

Then Paraco purchased Long Island Bottle Gas. I got a notice from them that I would need to re qualify my tanks before I could get them filled again. That was no problem. I still had one full tank and one that was almost full.

Then I got a letter from Paraco regretfully telling me that since the price of steel was so high, they would be forced to charge me a rental fee for the tanks. I wrote back, explaining the tanks belonged to me, I don't rent them. The bills kept coming. I replyed to each one with a letter.

Then the calls started. I repeatedly explained the tanks belonged to me. Bills and calls kept coming. They just ignored me and kept calling and sending bills.

One day I got home and noticed the tanks were gone. I called Paraco and was told the tanks were removed because I never paid the rental.

I owned the tanks. Both were almost full, and the bastards took them. In order to get them back, I would have to get new tanks. Those tanks would be filled. Total bill? Almost 500 dollars.

I refused their offer. I filed a police report and got another gas company.

Guess what I just got in the mail? It's a bill from Paraco for the propane tank rental.

They suck so hard. They are gouging locals in devastated Prattsville post Irene. Red flagging units that are perfectly fine. DO NOT USE PARACO.

Just got our Paraco Bill.$5.38 per gallon! 70 gallons. When I called they right away said they would "adjust" to $4.31 /gallon. I did not find that fair so I spoke to "supervisor" and showed him the pricing here:
Residential Propane Price: week of 1/16/12:$3.244
Wholesale Propane Price: week of 1/16/12:$1.461
Magically he lowered the price to $4.13 but for my troubles he further reduced it to $3.85.
Folks, this is all outrageous!!! It is not just Paraco, Burnwell does the same thing to customers. Fallsburg gas as well.
There is no transparency and these companies all hold the fact that they own the tanks as a way to hold us all hostage. It is time to question every bill that you get from any of these companies and be sure to hit them with the data at this web site:

I have had PARACO for over 28 years. Recently my wife went into business so I started scrutinizing the bills. Paraco was charging me $5.94 per gallon back in Nov. 2011. I started calling other companies and realized Paraco was anywhere from $1.00 to $2.00 higher per gallon. I called customer service to complain and after listening to their long, sad reasons why I was paying $5.94 she agreen to lower my per gallon charge by $0.50. On my next delivery I noticed the price was back up to $5.94. I called customer service again and was told that was a one-time adjustment. That was it!!! So I decided to go with the company my next door neighbor used....SYNERGY. I decided to wait till my gas was as close to empty as possible before calling them for a delivery. Finally one morning I called Synergy and was very happy to tell the young lady I was ready to switch from Paraco to Synergy. The young lady unfortunately was kind enough to give me the bad of 12:01 that morning they had been bought out by, you got it, PARACO.

I found out about a company called BAY GAS out of Shirley and called them up. So far so good!! They were very prompt in delivering the new tank as promised, no BS set-up/installation charges and the price per gallon was $3.69!!!!!!

Hopefully they will not be bought-out by that bastard of a company called PARACO!!!

I switched to a local company (Ideal) that is charging almost $1.00 LESS per gallon than Paraco, and the ECC charge of $3.99 is half of what Paraco charges. Paraco also had the lovely habit of waiting until I was down to almost nothing before they would deliver, even though I complained about this several times. Buh Bye!

Just got 4.31/gal reduced to $2.69 for a "pool special". What a farce. On a 400 gallon delivery!! I'm working on getting my old bills fixed!!

Awful company excessive fees, poor customer service. it takes weeks to get a delivery. I would rather convert back to electric then use this company. That is how awful they are. It is such a relief to be rid of them.

I was happy doing business with Vitale until Paraco took over. Then I got their "Maintenance" fee. I told them I owned my own tank. For a year I wrote and sent certified letters that were ultimately ignored. I came home today, they took my FULL tank, my regulator and even the cinder blocks that I had the tank resting on (So they waited until I bought gas from them, paid them to take the tank and the gas) I am filing a police report for theft. Of course, I know it was Paraco because they left their work order in my mailbox. Customer service cannot understand that I owned my own tanks. I even sent in a copy of my receipt before they "Reposessed" my property (Which I bought from Ace Hardware, not Paraco. A-holes !!

Paraco just delivered a whopping 2 gallons of propane to my house--the safety/ecc fee was more than the price of what the delivered! I miss Vitale...i have to start looking elsewhere.
