I am director of marketing for AuctionAmericaRelaty.com . A few days ago, we were
contracted to sell via public auction to the highest bidder the 112 acre site on Morton Rd.
It is my job to market the property and find a
buyer. Obviously, Rhinebeck is a beautiful place
and this abandoned school, for lack of a stronger word; is an eyesore to the community. I need
your help as to who you would like me to market this to. I understand it is five acre residential
zoning but in this economy what builder in their
right mind is going to start such a project? I
also read a senior complex was rejected in the past. So, I ask the town for its suggestions:
What would you like to see there? I am all ears.

Keep it the way it is. It's a great place for kids to go to and hang out.

I don't find it an eyesore at all.. I think abandoned places like that are extremely interesting, I can't be the only one

i think it should just be left alone it has so much history behind it. i think if its going to be messed with then people should go in and fix it up a little so they could allow people to go through it. its not hurting anybody. all you people wanna do is make money off of something. i dont get it everybodys so money hungry anymore.

They should keep it. I live about 15-20 minutes from here, but have friends in the area who have hung out there in the past. Its a pretty cool place. As Alex said, abandoned places are very interesting!

I was also a resident there from 1984 to 1987. I love love this place. How about leaving it a detention center for troubled kids. This place was everything i needed when my mom passed away. I had a prom here. I was there from age 13 to 16 i fell in love there and got my heart broke there. How about starting with picking up all the records that are scattered all over the floor and contacting all the residents that used to reside there. I bet we all would come and together and clean up that whole place for FREE. the oppurtunity to go back there brings tears to my eyes. Im planning a drive up there by this weekend. This whole thing has awaken something in me that is hungry to go back there. I wonder if my records or my little sisters records are among those scattered everywhere.

Dont worry about it Steve. Im gonna buy this place soon. And i will make it my home. And everything will be exactly like it was in 1984. Then i will die in peace. I cant think of nothing else nomore. My only thoughts are holycross. Thats the only thing i have left to look back at on my childhood. Knowing that it can be vanished makes me sick to my stomach. Plz lets save Holy Cross. Plz i beg on bended knees. Someone help.....

I was also one of the kids that attended Holy Cross in 1995 to 1999 and I hqave qa l9ot reqally greqat memorys of the place ang staff and teachers that worked at the campus and school like teachers Leslie Seagle and Richard Zoobroff. And staff like betty white and the guy with the dread locks in his hair that made the it a really great place to be at away from home. I still have dreams to this day of the campus like the rope walk and the old gym and of the lake and of friends I left behind that I will never see again . I would like to hear from some of the residents of when I attended and of campus storys of past years. I'm on facebook as james sager.

Both my parents attended school there. That place saved their lives (and created one...me). They would have been caught up in a lot of trouble staying in the city. It was the beginning of success. How it could mean so little to someone is beyond me. So much history.

I am sorry to see the school in such a bad condition. It svae my life. I was a resident from 1980 until 1982 and if it had not been for this school I truly believe I would be dead or in a worst condition than I am not. The school taught me that even with problems there are people who will love you through them and help you find your way out. I am trying to locate my schol records and because of the condition of this place I am having a difficult time furthering my education. I truly wish they had kept this place functioning.

I was there until June of 1989. I was on the second floor. Chad was my roommate. Chris McElroy was my roommate for a while, but they moved him to another room. When did you get there in 1989?

What floor where you on? AJ and I were good friends. Kim had a big crush on me. It's funny. I don't remember you. I was hardly around though. I worked off campus, and I was Phase III so I went home every weekend.

I am an historian living in Rhinebeck and I have become interested in the military academy which then became Holy Cross. I am interested in finding out why the academy closed and what life was like at Holy Cross. I understand that Holy Cross was closed by New York State and I would like to know why the state made that decision. Thank you.

It's crazy what happened to that place. I remember when I first got there. I thought I was going to hate it. I made friends there that I'll never forget. I wish I could get back out there, just to look around. I actually graduated from there. I remember most of my teachers too. I remember Rich teaching computers, and Gonyea teaching History. I remember the English teacher was married to the Art teacher. I don't remember their names though. We made wood burned clocks in Art class. We went and worked out with Rich, the staff from 2nd floor.
