When I was a kid, times were different. Teachers could get away with a lot more. I grew up in Lake County during the 70's and 80's. Some of the things a few teachers did have affected me for life.
Linda Leduke: Hateful little woman who belittled me no matter what I said or did. Never saw her smile once. She was just mean and seemed mad at the world. Paddled me when I forgot a homework assignment, my first offense.
Charlene Nolen: More than ready to take advantage of me when I was willing to give up my daily lunches to grade papers for her so that maybe someday she would like me and be nice to me. It never worked and she never resisted an opportunity to insult me with a smile on her face.
Virginia Wallace: Daily she forced us all to stand and sing a psalm from the bible while she played piano. My strict religion forbade use of musical accompaniment with religious songs or verses. My father went and told her that I could not sing the psalm with my class. From that day forward, Virginia Wallace took it out on me. Many times she pinched my face, shook me violently or hit me with a paddle. She did many things to me, too many to list. I was terrified of her. Not being allowed to sing that psalm was not my fault and I never did anything to deserve the way she treated me. Once we were required to write a Thanksgiving poem. Mine was pretty good and had a funny twist to it. Virginia Wallace, in front of the entire class, accused me of not writing it myself and made me write another one. That was the worst school year of my life.
Ken and Eva Parks: Can't go into details about this one because if they saw it, they would immediately know who I am, not that it really matters. I'll just say that I exposed something about Ken (and I told the whole truth) and they did all they could to get even with me via threats, lies, intimidation and drastically lowering my grades in an effort to shut me up. I think they were fairly popular teachers, but they were extremely vindictive when crossed.
These people may have been smart enough to get their teaching degrees, but they were not fit to be teachers. I hope Lake County has better standards now for how teachers can treat their pupils.

Maybe they didn't like you because you were a little whiner? From what you've written it sure does sound like it.

You're so quick to name names. Why aren't you brave enough to put yours on here? Maybe they'd like to tell people what they think of you!

On a different tune, I had some wonderful teachers:
Mrs. Kathleen O'Neal, she was so good to all of students, she was always encouraging and would brag when you did good, but she also would tell you when she thought you could do better and made us want to do better. John Alexander, another good teacher, I am an old timer too and I have good memories of good teachers, Mr. Ray Allison, one of the best teachers ever, made school fun. In my day if you got a paddling, when you got home and told your parents, you got another paddling and you would be on your best behavior for a good 3 months.lol Times are different I guess.

Whoever "Survivor" is must have had some pretty good teachers, too. The posting was fairly well written. Much better than most you see on here. I imagine if we all think back we could say we had some bad and some good teachers. The good would outweigh what we considered "bad". Sounds to me like whoever it is needs to let it go. The 70's and 80's was a long time ago!

Apparently we are the same age because we had the same teachers. I have moved own with my life and it is very healing. I am sure I know who you are. You need to get past your horrible childhood and quite blaming others for what your parents did to you and make the best out of your adult life

My mother died when I was 7 and I have only fond memories of her, so leave my parents out of this. I was raised by a loving father and grandmother. Yes I had some good teachers and Tommy Lovell was the best principal ever. But teachers have a profound effect on children and bullying/shaking/pinching/padd ling can be very damaging to a young child. I find it disgusting that some of you are blaming the victim. I was under age 12 when all these incidents happened.

You don't know Jack Shit. And learn how to spell while you're trying to figure out who I am. I don't have kids, so clearly you don't know who I am. Keep guessing and I'll keep laughing!

Well I need to go check on things at my store, so I can't sit in front of the computer all day like you probably do. I have a life. Maybe you should try getting one too. Have a nice day!

You're the one who started this thread. Don't get all bent out of shape because others aren't jumping on your bashing bandwagon. You say you've gotten on with your life, but what you say on here doesn't uphold that. Get over it! You weren't the only kid who ever got paddled.

You sound so bitter about your school experiences. Perhaps it's a good thing you don't have children. They probably would have been warped whiners just like you!

I think one of the worse teachers of all times was Pauline Bargery.Anyone who was ever in her class can attest to this if they will tell the truth. She was horrid to her students.I remember her teaching from 4th.to 8th. grade classes.Jackie Flowers taught science to 7th. and 8th. graders, and to put it nicely, let's just say he like the girls in that age group.Sonny Broglin wasn't much better. My memories of school aren't good.I dropped out,got my ged, went to college, became a multiple business owner and am now retired at a very early age.But no thanks to the LC school system.I hope they have better teachers now, but from what I've heard,a lot of the same old things are going on still today.

Why would you want to bash someone because they were abused by a teacher when they were just a child?I have never used any kind of drugs, never seen the inside of a jail and am not a guy.I do not live off our government. And I really don't care to tell you about my finances other than to say,I have no money problems.I'm sorry you do and seem to be jealous or a family member/friend of one of the teachers mentioned.I once lived in Lake County and am glad to say I'm enjoying the sunshine today.I only return there to visit relatives. One of which mentioned Topix, this will be my last time to look at it though because you people are as I remember you to be,mean spirited and just plain ugly.Have a wonderful day in the beautiful state of Tennessee.
