Thank goodness a judge with some common sense! I am becoming increasingly concerned about crashes that involve patients attending Methadone clinics that are involved in an accident and the medication is blamed. I have even seen cases where there was alcohol, Methadone, Benzodiazepines, and other opiates mixed yet the Methadone clinic is accused of fault as well as the Methadone itself and the driver convicted of Murder with the blame being placed on the Methadone alone. There are people who take medications every day that have the potential of making one drowsy, etc but they are not put away for Murder. Anyone who takes the medication Methadone is at risk of being in an accident on the highway that has nothing to do with the driver being "intoxicated" yet the cause will always be Methadone.

I feel people who go to the methadone clinic needs to be watched better than they are.But at the same time sueing the clinic or doctors is crazy. The judge done the right thing in this case. What we need is stiffer drug laws.Stop giving these people treatment after the first time of being caught selling or using drugs.

Perhaps the judge should let the people driving away from the methadone clinic pick up their own kids and take them to school. If you are going to let people drug and drive, you might as well let people drink and drive. The crazy thing is people think its OK to have a clinic when these people should be in a hospital.

From my 2008 Lexi - Comp drug reference pertaining to common adverse effects of methadone : " Central Nervous System : Euphoria, dysphoria, hallucination, headaches, insomnia, agitation, disorientation, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, sedation, confusion, seizure. "
