Great, so not only is he pushing socialized medicine...he wants to take it a step further and make it a communist program, where the government dictates how you should take care of yourself. So much for personal choice and liberty.

John Edwards would probably have some good ideas that might even work. The only thing is, he needs someone else to express them.

I think John Edwards is right on with his health care plan.Everyone should have health care. Some people can't afford insurance to cover them or their children. We spend so much money on wars and other countries. We should take care of people in this country first. Then if we can other people in other countries.

Rofl. Is this guy for real? Forced doctor visits maybe Edwards should go hang out with Chavez and run for one of his neighborhood-based assemblies called "communal councils."

Yep, and its funny how people (AMericans)so willingly give up there freedoms to be pampard. All the mothers in the US went to work so now the American (adult) children are looking at government to be there mommies. At the cost of there freedom. Once govenment has control of health care they have control over everything that you are. What you eat how much exercise, how many times you go to doctor. How many times have we heard well we can do this because its tax payers money. I dont want to be treated like a road where everyone owns me. I choose personal choice and liberty.

Britian is a poster child of what happens to a socity that embraces Nanny state socialism/communism.

.....and I suppose there would be "places" for those who choose not to comply. Nice camps where the doctors could observe them.

More doctor visits = the chance to sue more doctors.

Edwards knows what he is doing.

Our government is supposed to be For the People, By the People---great concept, but somewhere that got lost in the translation---now the government wants to say what bill we can pay on Tuesday or what color collar dogs to wear on Friday.

Government is intruding into our lives more and more everyday. They are no longer satisfied with running the economics of our country---and it's the mentality of politicians like Edwards here that is the ruination.---BUT only if WE let it.

'color collar dogs'?
LOL...Correction: What I meant to say is what color of collar that the dogs are to wear on Fridays.
Geeesh---in other words if we let this keep on, then they will even tell us what type of underwear that we are allowed to buy.

Problem IS, you ARE letting it happen. Been happening for decades now.

How is Edwards proposing to enforce this? Will some Federal agency come out and arrest us and take us to the Dr. if we don't go? Will they cut off Social Security, AFDC, welfare, etc. if we don't go? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose if they did. Another example of some political hack coming up with a 'bright idea' that upon further reflection looks like a nite lite!

What about FORCED $400 haircuts to curb the spread of lice?

But remember folks, John Edwards "came from nothing" and is proud of his 28,000 square foot house that consumes as much energy as Al Gore's. John Edwards can help cut down on CO2 emissions by shutting his mouth. Maybe the next part of his healthcare plan will be to force spouses to work while their significant other is being treated for cancer.

I wish I could be disappointed, but it is exactly what I've come to expect, comrades. The camps for non-conformists are the natural result of this program. Also, nice comment concerning the opportunity to sue more doctors. However, I imagine comrade Edwards would extend soverign immunity to the Doctors, because he's made his money, and Something has to be done to shut people up about tort reform. I'd like to say Amerika is headed to hell in a handbag, but, I don't see a handbag, and it's been unusually hot these past few weeks.

What this article doesn't tell you is that part of Edwards' plan

would require that $380 per month ($95 per week) will be deducted out of our paychecks to pay
for this so-called "free" health care.

I cannot afford $380 per month being taken out of my paycheck.

I dont particularly care to turn my healthcare over to anyone. Be it republican, democrat, an alien or anything else, for that matter.

My husband's insurance plan covers both of us for about $200/mth, pre-tax. Not a bad deal, in my opinion.

Don't know where you got these figures had to be Fox or lush. With the money we are now spending in Iraq the 47 million without insurance could have insurance with money left over.Since you are worried about paying for it guess we could do like w and the repukes congress let our kids and grandkids pay it.
By the way a lot of folks who have insurance would gladly pay no more that 380 bucks a month.

There doesn't begin to be enough qualified doctors for this idiotic idea. Which is the point. To fill the gap you need UNQUALIFIED doctors, which will be sued. That will drive up health care costs more. So will lost productivity in this country for waiting in doctor offices. Some of us can't afford to miss work. Of course, the Breck Girl can't understand this because he hardly understands how America really works...
