I'm 23 years old, temporarily staying with a family member until I can get back on my feet again. I don't make much money at all. I work an average of 14hrs per week and until I can get in school or find a better paying job I have no choice but to look into public housing availabilities in Dayton. If I am correct it's referred to "Dayton Metro Housing Authority"? I didn't find much to answer my inquiries on the website. I need to know:
1. Basic eligibility
2. How long does it take to get approved?
3. Once approved, about how long could it take to receive an apartment once placed on the list?
4. How bad are they, crime wise? They're projects so I can only assume they are drug infested but hopefully can gain insight from someone who knows first hand.
I just know I will eventually wear out my welcome where I am staying now. I mind my own business, and having been homeless before I am definitely equipped with street smarts. I just want a place to lay my head down at night.
I can tell you, I have never been arrested so my record is clean as can be. Thanks
Skip the public housing, you'd end up in Desoto Bass, the murder capital in town
Section 8 is the way to go, you could live where you want. AS long as the landlord accepts it, you pretty much can live anywhere
They haven't had the list open in years down there. You should Google DMHA and all the contact numbers are on there.
