There are way to many vacant buildings in Dayton. What's more, is they are constantly being vandalized. Criminals go into these buildings in broad daylight and steal copper plumbing, copper wiring, water heaters, furnaces and any other mechanical element that can be recycled. there have been hundreds of police reports but almost no arrest. The communities are loosing value in the real estate, brokers can't sell the buildings, and the buildings are a hazard. Something has to be done.
Stay tuned for ideas to combat activity that is hurting the city's real estate market.

Good fire-department training, letting them burn down to the ground.

Not only the buildings but look around at the homes that are vacant. The city and county have no desire to clean up the problems that are turning this area into a ghost town. The county raised my property tax based on the value of my home if it were rehabbed/rebuilt. Home-aramma jacked up the home prices and now the county evaluates your property value based on the sales price of rehabbed homes in your neighborhood. The county property tax is now based on if your home was rebuilt from ground up and not what the value of your home is right now as it stands. I talked to the county folks and was told by them that I should feel lucky that the value is less than the value if it were rebuilt. What a garbage like of crap. They will come up with any way they can to get your tax dollar. The government are made up of spin doctors and criminals! I say tare down the abandon properties and then jack up the property value of the ones left standing by showing its cost to tare down the old dilapidated buildings/homes instead of some crazy reasons like your home property tax is based on the value of “IF” your home was rebuild this is its worth and we are going to tax you on some made up figure of how much your home is worth based on it being rehabbed.

Let the arsonists have a ball and leave them alone and let them roam and burn, without risking innocent lives or occupied properties, of course.
