North Oregon Coast Shark Report May be Bull

There are 3 comments on the Beach Connection story from Aug 11, 2007, titled North Oregon Coast Shark Report May be Bull. In it, Beach Connection reports that:

“Sharks don't do that. It sounds like porpoises to me. Those run around in groups together. But I didn't see it, so I don't know. A dorsal fin is a dorsal fin.”

The rumors are flying, the local media is abuzz and the beaches are closed to swimming in Rockaway Beach because of a possible sighting of sharks there. via Beach Connection

I was there on Rockaway Beach last Thursday and saw a shark while I was buggy-boarding. It was about 3 feet long, and it was definitely a shark.

Wow, we were just in Manzanita the last 10 days and I can tell you there were things swimming in the waves that we thought were small sharks. I slapped my boggie board at an animal that came with in 3 feet of me. The Kiteboarders were talking about seeing sharks outside. I've been going to Manzanita for the last 5 years for three weeks each summer and I have never see any signs of sharks until this year. FYI the water was 69 degrees over the 4th of July its noramly less than 50.

There are numerous breeds of Sharks who roam the waters off Oregon's coastlines. Seldom seen, or heard about. I once walked up on a Great White who had come ashore, the shark was about three feet long, still flopping around, I took him by his tail and proceeded to walk backwards into the sea, I let him go in about waste high water and seen him swim away. I have told people of the ordeal no one believes, until I show them the PICTURES I TOOK. The Seal population has increased in recent years. The main meal for Great Whites are Seals, where there are Seals bet GREAT Whites are close by! Commenting on the prior post Ive never heard of the water temperture ever being 69degrees,nor does the waters off Oregon are to cold for Sharks, Sharks are the Rulers of the Sea,theyve survived any others on land or in the sea.
