What a great idea, sure wish Rio Rancho public schools would have thought of this with their old city hall instead of building that money pit Cleveland.

Will they also get the old jail? Seems like that would be a real good match since schools are glorified prisons now.

It's a good idea for the education.

However, the County Commission will probably donate the site to APS. Then in 6 months APS will decide the building needs billions of dollars in renovations and will hijack the property owners for the cost. THEN, after they've rebuilt the building from inside out, APS will turn around and sell it back to Bernalillo County for massive amounts of money.

Just what we need, more people in the legal profession in NM, more lawyers and politicians...

So why spend so much money for a building to bring in speakers??????????
Spend the money for a live video broadcast to all the high schools instead of one select, high dollar school.
If all these lawyers want to help, then they should help all not just a select few.

APS spent 1 million dollars fixing up a building they did not own to use less than one semester? Priceless

Oh, great idea. Just what we need. More Lawyers. No more shop or auto mechanics classes, but we have plenty of time and money for lawyers.

They can't run the schools they've got now. Why do they need another one?

I think this is a great idea to start with. I like the concept. I don't agree with APS spending $1 million to renovate a building they don't own. Especially since they had so much push back on the EA raising. Regardless, education has needed reform for such the longest time. We need new ways to educate kids. Not every kid is suited for the old traditional ways of teaching. Maybe it works in the elementary setting, but once pre-teen years come in, I think change is useful. Not every kid will be a lawyer or accountant. Some will be teachers, artists, construction workers, mechanics, and I think we should find a way to give those kids the proper education. I think there are core classes every child should have; health, english, reading, math (up to Algebra). But after that, I think there is room to shake up the way we teach kids.

I'm all for it as long as they teach the kids about the public hangings they used to have from the flagpole out front.
Ah, history. Ya gotta love it.

Yet one more stupid idea from APS. That building is too old to waste money on. But what the heck, wasting money is what APS does best.

Be more selective who you hire this time to work on this project. Stay on top of costs vs invoices. There's a history of corruption when this type of project comes up. Well there are a few who you won't have to worry about this time around. I won't mention any names...............

Earlier this year, APS spent almost $1 million to turn it into a temporary school for Atrisco Heritage students while the new campus was being completed.
What a waste of taxpayer dollars to fund renovations for yet another school bldg. APS is so out of control as is this 'Academy' crap we're all paying for in so many schools.

Is this where we really need our education dollars to go?

Who's really accountable for it, money or academics?

We will need lawyers to sue someone when our car breaks down or gets a flat...and there is no one to fix it
