Good work Aztec PD, also sounds like the DA is doing thier
job for a change. Send the trash to the pen for the rest
of his life, so he wont be our to run the life of another
14 year old

Lock him up!! If he was sending her naked pictures of him....and offering to take her shopping at VS... that says it all right there. Lock him up and keep him there so he doesn't end up trying to get with another little girl!

I have commented on our local Law enforcemnt and the DA's office we as a community have had problems excepting some of problems within our own Police dept's and the DA's office but here is a good example that in my opinion (PD, DA ) are doing alot of good things inspite of being out numbered by all the cowards, drunks, theifs, sex offenders, and the list goes on. Way to go Aztec PD for a job well done. I hope that your efforts are noticed by others.

Fantastic job Aztec PD,,,DA's office"kudos",, don't let this scum get off on something technical. The only part that sucks so far is the $20,000 Bond. What is up with that Judge? Should have been NO bond pending. He is out on the streets again for a measly $200 bucks.

I certainly agree that it is hard to have any sympathy with Mr. Tafoya. That said, I must say that I find it difficult to consider this sort of thing to be the most effective use of scarce, highly trained and expensive police and prosecution resources. Given a choice, I would much rather see our police and prosecutors focused on those who will commit a serious crime without any sort of temptation or encouragement on the part of police as opposed to focusing on those who might be stupid and evil enough to be enticed into responding to a properly presented lure. In the end, effective law enforcement has to begin with a proper setting of priorities in the face of available resources. We have real unlicensed drivers, real sexual predators, real bank robbers, real red light runners, real druggies/dealers and real 5th time DWIs in numbers that have largely, if the truth be known, simply overwhelmed the law enforcement we have at our disposal. All this suggests to me that the police and prosecutors (and the elected officials responsible for them) need to take a hard look at their priorities.

Agreed. There is no victim, no child. It was just an adult cop posing as a child on the internet. Did Aztec police invite a horny pervert from ABQ to come up here to our community? This guy has no criminal history. This is not taxpayer money well spent.

OH MY GOD WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!! This is a man setting up a sex date with a 14 year old girl. No tricks, per the law he has to be the one initiating the scene. This in my opinion is a great use of an officers time. So someone ran a red light, or drove without a drivers license. I do want the drunk drivers stopped, but a sexual predator wanting to have sex with a minor? Open your eyes and ears, this is a very sick man!!!!!!!!!
No previous record? Maybe just because he hasn't been caught yet. This girl (Officer) told him she was only 14, and he drove 200 miles to have sex with her.

GREAT JOB AZTEC POLICE, keep up the great work!!!!!!!

is Carolyn the same one that lost the Chilis shoot out? and the old man raping the neighbor girl? Dont worry Tafoya...they will offer a plea, but take to court...you'll be found not guilty. then you can go about you life wearing only a cowboy hat and stalking little girls.

is that really a crime..er I mean, is it really called ..."online child luring" without getting into all the pedophile and endangering (which is undoubtedly a crime)......just the NAME of the crime... is it really called "online child luring" or is that just a catchy title the writers at the DT came up with. a more truthful title could have been "Police Lure Pedophile", Pedophile Lured by Police" because in this case the perp was "attracted" to Aztec. just a thought

Mr Original what is your problem? Do you have children? I would guess not. Who cares what happened, a MAN drove 200 miles to meet a 14 year old girl to have SEX and shopping at Victoria Secrets. Did you really want the police to have a 14 year old for him to sleep with? I really hope not. This is the type of pervert that needs to go to jail before he rapes one of our innocent children.
Put this SOB in prision where he belongs and can become the victim of sexual abuse!!!!

Heck I even heard they video taped him whacking off on the computer for her.
Mistake I think not, he was looking for a child when he found the Officer. I really dont see how anyone in their right mind could stick up for this sick piece of crap.
I dont know how old you are but it takes two to tango as the saying goes. He was in an area where he shouldnt have been. He was having talks about sex with a child. That alone should be a crime if it isnt.
Any time you have an adult suspect and a child victim the person needs to maximum amount of prision time for their punishment.

naive X, your the reason there are so many blogs on the racism page... go back there...stop accusing me of defending the suspect. My question that you seem to be upset about is if that "child online luring" is actually a law in the books. My point being that the Daily Slime in always misrepresenting the facts.
And before you go spouting off hear say, or undisclosed information, that is only dangerous for everyone.
If you think that my slam about the DA handling the case was defensive...look up sarcasm in websters.
now appologise and go back to your mutton

Wow talk about racism, look at yourself, and your comments.
I happen to fully agree with Native X, This guy needs to be put in jail. You can call it what you want to, this is an adult on the internet surfing for a child to have sex with. When he found one he made a date to go shopping at Victoria Secrets, and have sex. HE DROVE 200 miles for this.
Go read the article, he engaged in several "sexually rooted conversations, repeatedly posed naked in front of web cam, and Offered to take her shopping at Victoria Secrets". He made a date for sex and "waited outside the victims residence for some period of time before he was arrested" by APD.
Innocent?? How, he knew the girl was suposed to be 14 but still drove the 200 miles. He explained what he was planning on doing and also showed himself naked and spanking his boys on the internet to her. That alone should get him prision or a mental ward. Who in their right mind would beat off in front of a camera especially when they think a 14 year old is watching.
I really dont see how you can stick up for this piece of trash. He needs to go to jail and as Native said be the victim of sexual abuse.
And for your record no I am not a Native just happen to side with one on this argument. So get off the race issue.

Read what? I posed several quotes directly from the article. As for your comment to Native X, it sounds to me like you are sticking up for this worthless piece of trash.
Whether you are or not, I still dont think your racial comments are right.

Actually...in prison, HE'LL BE the 14-year-old!

ROFLMAO!

Since child molesters obviously cannot be reformed, and I don't really wish to feed and support them for the rest of their lives, can't we lobotomize them or something? They'd still be useful to society as gardeners, or laborers.
