looking for my Great-garndfathers civil war sword. On loan to the Ohio State Capital Blding on display since about 1915 till now, disippered around 1995. any pictures or knowlege of it's 80 year existance in the display would be appreciated and rewarded. It represented the battle of Pittsburg Landing (Shiloh) in a special show case on the north side of the state capital building to the right of the entry way.It is now no longer there.

How terrible it should be missing! Who's responsible for the trust of objects on display? Is there no record of when it was moved and to where?

They are working very hard on locating it. Right now it is a great mystery. The sword is actually a bayonet type sword that fits a flint lock rifle with a bronze ribbed handle and silver blade. It had a black leather scabbard with bronze tip and cap. The display was dismantled about 15 years ago so any old photos would help.
