See this Times of Ti article:
http://www.denpubs.com/news/2013/oct/30/candi...

So, two out of three candidates for Town Supervisor refuse to debate. How's that for courage and leadership?

Grinnell's excuses basically amount to "I don't wanna, and you can't make me."

Whitford probably realizes he can't possibly defend his stance for increased taxes in a public forum.

From the article, it now appears that the Town Council candidates will be participating. So, it may still be worth attending.

I'm hoping they have empty chairs on stage to represent the two missing Supervisor candidates who aspire to be our leaders.

Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in the Community Building auditorium.

I do need to make 1 more comment about Bill. I was 'impressed'( if it was true) in last week's Times of Ti, his ad on the water situation. Made it sound like the 'Town Board' is pulling the 'wool' over the 'taxpayers' eyes, but I don't know...only what I read!

Hopefully, Someone will "HELP" and not be a "YES" man/women..and do the HONEST work.

But, of course, we all know 'people can promise the 'moon' and after elected, do the complete opposite, so who knows????

Just my opinion!

I guess the boys aren't all that confident in their knowledge and abilities after all.

Too bad, so sad.

Debating requires a different skill set than management and leadership. While one can know the facts and be knowledgeable of issues, they may not be able to communicate them effectively. In an administration, it is better to have a leader who can take charge and make sound decisions than it is to make well rehearsed speeches.

When the going gets tough, the tough......

cower?!?!?

Deb is not a skilled debater. Anyone with a solid understanding of the facts can throw her off her game. I know 5th graders that could go toe-to-toe with her.

Want to lead this Town? Man up, and debate!

Read the Times of Ti article. Bill Grinnell made it quite clear why he would not take part in the debate. Usually, except for Ti, when a debate is scheduled all sides meet and negotiate the parameters. The questions are not tailored to a particular candidate's strengths nor do the candidates have the questions before hand so answers can be rehearsed. Bill was using good judgment in declining this debate because commonly accepted protocol was not followed.

The real reason Bill is not attending is that he would have to defend his fictitious insert regarding the water issues in last weeks Times of Ti. The Town Board wrote a factual rebuttal regarding Bill's assertions which he cannot defend. His arrogance gets him in trouble. so sad...

To the Voters of Ticonderoga,
On 10/28 the Supervisor and town board put out a flier attacking my credibility. They placed this flier in the town clerk’s office to try and gain political advantage over my campaign for supervisor. They called my flier spin and theirs’ fact, you be the judge.
In their flier they charge that I made false statements in regards to the town water project when I stated the town had told the people they must develop a ground water system. Let me quote from a portion of the bond resolution advertised before the meeting of 9/30/13, passed on 9/30/13, and reported by the town in the official newspaper in the legal ads well after the 9/30 meeting.“ WHEREAS, in order to comply with the orders of the New York State Department of Health, the Town must initially investigate the potential for and develop a groundwater well source, which will include well drilling”. Three different times they published this statement. What do you think it is saying?
They also question my interpretation of a decision by the supervisor and board to borrow $2,700,000.00 for, and I will quote from town documents again,“PUBLIC HEARING ON THE INVESTIGATION AND IMPROVEMENTS TO GOOSENECK RESERVOIR”. At this hearing, which was advertised with the quoted title and with very few in attendance, when questioned the town explained that the 2.7 million was for wells, not Gooseneck. What do you think the hearing should have been titled?
I stand by my statement that the town did, indeed, say, as is clearly shown above, they were under orders from the state to drill wells. They did this knowing full well that such an order does not exist. I also feel that when you are talking about spending taxpayer money on a project you should call the project by a title that indicates the actual use of the money.

I would not debate either....not under the conditions of this debate. Who in their right mind would walk into the set up presented to Bill and Steve? I'm my humble opinion, Deb tried to set it up in only her liking. I say bravo to Steve and Bill for calling her bluff. Having heard Bill express his thoughts at the senior meeting, I think Deb should have thought twice before pulling this stunt. He presented his beliefs quite well...again, in my humble opinion. I have only read Steve's beliefs. I am convinced beyond doubt, after this ploy by Deb, Bill has my vote. Good luck, Bill.

I'm with you !!! She thinks she has it all over everyone, but the truth is, if she had a brain, she'd play with it !!!!!!!!!!

Well the two fellas can make all the excuses they want, truth is by doing this it doesn't make either one of them look good. Bill and Steve didn't call debs bluff! That's just asinine !! If you don't like how she's running the show then they should be man enough to go in the same room with her and answer the publics questions. That is what a debate is for... TO DEBATE. Then the public can make their own decision. This excuse of not getting enough notice is just that, an excuse. An excuse to get out of answering the public voters questions and debating with the other candidates. If they can't do that for us voters now, don't expect them to do it if they get in office. Priorities aren't obviously listening to the voters! Plain and simple.

Have had dealings with Ms Malaney. She has become a good politician, not a good leader. My vote is for Bill. Go Bill!

Attend a few Board or Committee meetings. Bill will throw a curve out there, watch everyone squirm, and then leave. Is this the leadership you are talking about. How about everyone else's thoughts. How about staying and actually listening and questioning the experts. Anyone can cause problems. Solutions are a little harder to come by. A town manager for $100,000 a year or cancel all the work on the water system and start over is just plain stupid. We are losing money annually. Now you want to just throw it out the window. Good Luck with that.

Boys are cowards, with all due respect I disagree. I feel it showed integrity not to be drawn into a one sided opportunity to let Deb and her cohorts run this so called debate. She has had MONTHS to hold a FAIR debate with her challengers. Instead SHE alone decided on time, place, questions, etc. The last Friday before the election. Coincidence? I think not. Last minute plan to make her opponents look bad? Yup. BUT, I think in many minds, she has made herself look bad. Just my opinion.

So It's agreed: the boys can't think on their feet.

Deb can be easily beat in a debate. Too bad they're not up to the challenge.

Leadership? I think not!

It is not agreed. The boys chose not to play her game. If she had played fair and planned a FAIR debate, I feel the contenders would have joined her. You cannot have a fair debate when it is planned by only one person. She got burned in her own game. I, for one, think it is about time! And does anyone else find it AMAZING a water source has been found just days before the election?? Wow...I am I awe.....NOT. Next will be the cure for cancer.....

And, one more thought....did anyone mention the "boys" we're sent a list of questions to be addressed? Oh,......didn't think so. And who made up the list?
