Your a fool. Do you know how much IP spends in the area? If they every pull out then you can worry about the free ride.

All the original poster is doing is looking for a free ride himself. Someone's wealth has to be confiscated in order to pay for him to sit on hisass. When will this person contribute and pay back the people who were forced by government to contribute to him?

Short answer --- Never

You are a complete moron that must be on welfare or never worked anywhere. IP leaves, then pack up southern Essex County, because many will also be forced to leave. Do you have any clue as to what they pay in property taxes? Payroll? Just the economic spinoff from IP being here amounts to tens of millions of dollars!

I.P. is still in NY for one reason. Their proximity to the needed natural resource. If it weren't for the need to harvest trees locally you would find I.P. in a less taxed and less heavily regulated State similar to where most other manufacturing has gone -- either a right-to-work state or completely out of the country. No doubt NY will eventually push I.P. out. But, rest assured, if I.P. could have taken their trees and woodlots with them, they'd have left long ago. Their allegiance is not to you, the local area or NYS, it's to the company's shareholders and the bottom line.

Be careful what you wish for because your government wants manufacturing out of the park. Federal, state, EPA, APA all have one goal in mind shut down industry in the Adirondacks. Make it a playground for downstate politicians and rich city dwellers. An added benefit to destroying upstate economies would be to pack the disenfranchised rural inhabitants into stacked housing in urban areas where they are more likely to vote like a dependant democrat while being easier to locate when it comes time to dole out the free cheese.

please...I cant take it anymore..I beg to differ..and ruly dont know where to begin..u apparently dont realize what a drain the adirondack park is o n the states expenses..do. understand that the state wishes the park was gone? The state pays to fund the place and gets no revenue from it.u idiots r a burden on the state..sorry but the moroni adirondack mentality where u believe the state exists for u is misguided

New York State taxpayers will contribute $1.75 million toward the IP natural gas line through a grant awarded to the North Country Regional Economic Development Council for this purpose.

International Paper will spend between $8-10 million to convert their power and recovery boilers in Ticonderoga from oil to natural gas.

Question: Will the natural gas pipeline at IP have excess capacity to support future expansions toward the hamlets of Ticonderoga and Crown Point?

The gas line, as proposed, is for the sole use of I.P. Little effort has been expended by our local leaders to secure an intrest in this line for Ticonderoga residents or business owners. Sad.
What a game changer this could be for our town.

I.P. is a corporation. Corporations generally don't give a damn about the average citizen, OR their employees. They never have. They never will.
In the meantime, what has the town "leadership" done in the last 50! years to bring in other employment opportunities? Hmmm...

To name a few that you only need to call and ask.
IP
Essex County IDA
Town of Ti.
Don't get me wrong, I think IP securing this line is great for the mill. I feel bad for the rest of the area that our local leadership couldn't make it happen to include us.

Since the whole area looks like it is already in a "drain." Or a ditch. Or whatever.

Not just back roads looking like this any more, not just Chilson or Cossey Street or Towner Hill Rd. or Breed Hill Rd. etc. Look at the whole area!
